You do wonder with the indoor market why now? It's been obvious it needed love and attention for bloody years.
What they going to put in it?
I bet they don't want Smokey Joes wet fish do they. Has Madge got a wet fish stall anywhere else?

Don't know if anyone has been to the new mercato centrale in Rome termini.

Something like that would be nice.

Sports Direct and USC are moving into the old Poundland building opposite emptying two stores in St Stephens.

JD moving into Zara means Princes Quay will be emptier again. JD was originally supposed to be taking the Sports Direct store so it'll be interesting to see if that's changed.

Probably have to accept that with online shopping/ out of town malls, they'll never fill Whitefriargate shops. They to be creative.
And what has happened to the fountains in City square? I thought it was just to complete in March? I 've been away for three weeks so what have I missed?

    The rents should be lowered.

I assumed they would be low? The last thing they would want is empty shops this year?

There was a problem with the grouting or something, they're launching in May now.

It's not, if you've been sat on a shop that's been empty for years, you obviously don't put the rent up.

The rents have dropped significantly over recent years, unfortunately the rates haven't and there's now shops down there with a rate bill higher than the rent.

Unless rates are reviewed and lowered, many units will remain unoccupied, they're simply not viable.

Yes I agree but how do you compete with online shopping and getting people off their backsides and to the shops ?
