Last week they announced they were being officially unveiled this weekend, but they've just announced on RH that the unveiling is at 1.30 today.
They seem to have had lots of bother with these. I can't see them lasting long before the stop working.
They work fine, the problem with these has not been anything to do with them not working, it's been actually making them. They're level with the slabs around them, so they're not a trip hazard when they're off and when they're running, there's only 2mm of water on them. They've had to manually polish them completely flat and level and it's taken them ages.
Not sure, but apparently this was where the inspiration came from... please log in to view this image
I was in Victoria Sq on Sunday afternoon - dozens of chavs with their kids in the fountains and a couple of benches of assorted winos . All looked very down market - shame really.

I think that I read (or maybe heard in the video posted on here) that they are unique Great idea, but understandably difficult to get right Massive aside but if you ever get to go in the crypt under the Minster there are tiny streams running through it which were deliberately catered for when they built it as they thought it was better to build over them and make a feature than try and reroute them and have the risk that they wear away at the foundations trying to find their traditional route...smart cookies those olden days brickies
I believe there's a stream running through the cellar of The White Hart in North Cave for the same reason.
