Yes, there is nothing as artistic as a bloke pissing into a bucket like they had in Derry/Londonderry.
I went to the Common Foe exhibition in Maritime Museum today Short film about trawlers going down in rough seas off Norway during the Cod Wars Film was brilliant, very emotional by the end Some nice portrait photos of people off Hessle Rd too The Bill Bailey bit in there is quite humorous too
Anyone been to the Larkin exhibition in the Uni? Excellent if your into that kind of thing. ...Body serve, required, if not
Saw that today too Looks really good from straight on from a high floor We had a very cultural few hours (for the rest of the day I'll have to post on the afternoon drinking thread!)
Coming to Trinity Square in Hull... From October there'll be sixteen galvanized steel columns outside Hull Minster. It's a temporary installation commissioned by Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and Hull UK City of Culture 2017. The columns have been designed by Chile-based architects Pezo von Ellrichshausen and Swiss artist Felice Varini. please log in to view this image
Out cycling today & came across a couple on bikes- I stopped as they were looking lost (they were holding a map a looking confused) - checked where they were going - 'Burton Constable Hall' - They'd come up for a midweek break to see city of culture, spent a few days in the city centre enjoying the sights / city of culture stuff & now enjoying the 'quiet roads' of east yorkshire - good to know that it's having the desired effect & people are going away with good impressions of the city
There's a Bill Bailey thing there too I think? I've spoken to several out of towners who have all seemed to really enjoy themselves
Turn and face the strange - worth going to if there are any tickets left for Friday or Saturday. Mick Ronson story at Freedom Centre on Preston Road
That's because the photo doesn't really show the tail at the top In person it looks great, like a whale diving straight down
Visited today - yes film good / emotive - perhaps could have been a bit longer? Bill bailey thing kept children (& me) amused ... how many CoC guides are there? loads in maritime today. The whale thing at Princess Quay - daylight unimpressive, whole place still a ghost town - where as St Stephen's is always packed for reasons that make no sense - though that would involve enjoying / understanding shopping
St Stephens has more shops, more places to eat, more entertainment places and is closer to the bus/train station. You don't need to get into the City Centre's traffic to get there either. Also, when a shop closes in St Stephens, they quickly refill it as we've seen with the three shops announced to replace Zara, Dorothy Perkins and Sports Direct. Princes Quay still has far too many empty shops and the food venues haven't opened (nor are they even announced) yet as part of the renovation. In the time it took to sort the outlet floor, more shops left elsewhere in the centre such as Footlocker. The number of shops having left that place is staggering: The Body Shop, Republic, JJB, Bank, Tiger Leisure, Virgin/Zavvi, Clintons, Schuh, Footlocker, Disney Store, Burger King, New Look, etc. It looks like JD Sport is moving across to St Stephens next. Some of these shops were the only ones in Hull and some were the only ones of their kind in the centre like Virgin/Zavvi being the only place for CDs and films in there.
