I remember having my head down just thinking we were getting battered and then suddenly realising we were catching them. I used to go to all the Hull FC games back then. I actually have a scrap book with newspaper cuttings and stuff about the team over about a 3 year period.
Bit of a whoooooooooosh moment there then. Skipper scored at Fellows Park to get us promoted. Ironic that FC have lost overtime they've played there. And we haven't (in normal time).
Even more ironic is that you are wrong. Hull played in the 1982 CC final at Wembley and drew with Widnes before winning the cup in a replay at Leeds. Was at the Wembley game but left the country on business before the replay.
I was at the rugby game, my dad used to make me go in those days until I was too old to refuse. I've never forgiven him.
I was at Bournmouth watching City lose 1-0 on that day Hull were at Wembley. Got lots of "sympathy" from the rugby fans on my way down on the train.
Indeed it was a glorious day, but not a thumping header, more or a glancing one as he ran across the front of the defence to head it in. Had been saying all day at the match (and repeatedly since at recent games) that we should try something different at free kicks to just hitting it hopefully high into the penalty spot area.
Sorry but that was the day that Wigan beat Hull at Wembley. Great win last night and some way towards revenge. Hope they break the Wembley hoodoo.
My post referred to 1982 when Hull were not beaten at Wembley. Wigan beat Hull there in 1985. What are you sorry about?
Another interesting fact about that game. the live coverage on the BBC was interrupted by a news flash to announce that the Vulcan Bomber had bombed the runway at Port Stanley
Good memory !!! Its funny how certain things stick in the memory yet you can run up the stairs to get something and not have a clue what youve gone for when you get there.
Understand now what you were saying in your reply to another post that Hull lost every match at Wembley being false.
