That will mean we will end 2nd as cannot finish lower. We will have to face the team in 5th in the play offs, which 3 teams could still finish 5th. Eastleigh who is 4th on 79 pts. Last game: home vs Kiddy. FGR who is 5th on 78 pts. Last game: home vs Dover. Macclesfield who is 6th on 77 pts. Last game: away vs Torquay. Who will end 5th and have to come against us?
I'd rather 'grab the bull by the horns' and face FGR and, hopefully, get them out of the way. Put it this way, if we can't dispatch FGR we don't deserve to go up! If we win I'd then rather face Eastleigh at Wembley.
So you think Maccs will miss out and you are hoping Rovers vs FGR and Grimsby vs Eastleigh and the final is Rovers vs Eastleigh? You rather face 2 teams who we are yet to beat than Maccs and Grimsby who we are yet to lose against? You got some balls p49
Dawson is already gone. His last game was Dover which he wasnt selected for, so his real last game was Southport. Sinclair was pushing to be back for Alfreton. If too soo, he should make the play offs. Easter had a re-occurance of his knee injury that kept him out of the Kiddy game. He I presume will be back for Alfreton if not will be back for the play offs. We have Lines for the play offs. Personally I would risk Easter or Sinclair for Alfreton. We should win without them and if we win the league then great. If we dont then they would be in a better position for the play offs.
We can beat whoever we meet. I think playing the home leg second is advantage too because we can go for a result in the first game whereas the home team in the first leg don't want to give too much away.
The play offs will be an extremely anxious affair for even the most hardened of followers, not something to relish at all and especially so when you consider the way in which the dice usually rolls for the Rovers.
We were knocked out by Northampton, we lost a final against Huddersfield and we beat Shrewsbury in the most recent final. I'm not too worried about the playoffs because we're in consistently good form.
I don't fancy the play-offs. The psychology of it is all against the best qualifying team. No matter what messages management sends out there is bound to be a sub-conscious feeling of 'we deserved to go up/we blew it'. The lower qualifiers are normally on a run and only too pleased to have the chance even though they were not front runners.
Will keep fingers crossed you come up via them - and fair play to your boys today - couldn't have done anymore than they did. Best of luck.
Our problem has been too many draws. 16 of them. If 1 ended in a win, and there has been many of them that should have been wins, the title would have been ours.
