According to what the experts NOW say we aren't all going to die immediately, but we will die in the future, so they are still right.

When we do eventually die it will all be a delayed response to Brexit and nothing to do with anything else that's happened in the world since the vote.

UK manufacturers enjoy post-Brexit surge in orders - survey

The survey, by manufacturing lobby group EEF and consultancy BDO, added to signs that British factories are enjoying a growth spurt, something that Brexit supporters said would be one of the early benefits of leaving the European Union.

Crystal ball journalism again. Anyway when has the EHIC card ever been enough, nearly everyone takes out travel insurance over above EHIC. Shame that the poor middle class are going to pay a bit more to have their 2 or 3 yearly foreign holidays. People of my grandparents generation had to pay a great deal more not to be ruled by Europe (Germany) than even in the worse case scenario our current generation are ever going to have to pay.

Still waiting for the economic melt down that was going to follow a leave vote.

But with respect, that was then and this is now. We had (supposedly) moved on and away from those dark days, and yet a flimsy majority saw fit to transport us back there! :emoticon-0106-cryin

I don't know, things are not significantly different to what they were a year ago, despite all the doom mongers. I think if you think we have been transported back to those dark days, then you really don't appreciate how bad things were then. Do you really think modern day life is comparable in anyway to the 1930's & 40's. The little extra cost you may have to pay for travel insurance or the little extra queuing you may have to do at passport control isn't a significant price to pay. Indeed any extra cost could be offset by the reintroduction of duty free and I'm sure whilst people may moan about a little extra queuing at passport control, they'll be more than happy to queue up for their cheap booze. Yes there will be advantages and disadvantages with Brexit some of which will be significant, but I don't see these changes IF they happen being of any real significance to those who choose to travel abroad.

I don't know if you're aware but whilst the EHIC gives you free treatment, it isn't free, as which ever country you receive treatment in can claim the cost back from the NHS. So effectively you get free treatment in the participating countries, which is paid for by tax payers in this country, whether or not they ever travel abroad themselves. There is a strong arguement on the basis of fairness that we should leave the EHIC system, so that those that can't afford foreign travel or choose not to don't subsidies for those that can or do.

This link date 2nd of March 2016 shows that the EHIC cost us 620 million.

We could of course stay a member of course potentially stay amember of the EHIC scheme, when we leave the EU. Although personally I'd rather we left it as I don't expect people in this country who can't afford foreign travel to subsidise my travel,

Yes, this is true. It's more of an emergency back-up to conventional travel insurance.
But surely the deal is reciprocal, so that Germans, Dutch, Slovenians who come to the UK have a scheme in place whereby the UK can recoup from their governments any medical costs incurred?

Locking the thread as the title, Impact of brexit on football, appears no longer relevant.
Football hasn't been mentioned for ages on here.
It's become an online 'speakers corner' - I'm as guilty as anyone.
