Fixtures are out. After looking at the first and last game, then what? Do you look who we play on your birthday, maybe the xmas/new year games. Or any specific teams? No derby match this time, Boro, who cares? Or dont you care which order they come?
Would prefer a home game first. Would prefer it not be one of the promoted teams but not against one of the top teams prior to them getting into their stride.
We always seem to get two of the newly promoted clubs in the first six fixtures or so, last season it was Norwich (h) and Bournemouth (a) and both clubs were well up for it, can't see it changing as the computer seems to churn out a similar set of fixtures each season.
Probably a look at the first 10, scoot through the rest and a look at the run in. Then a look at the mag fixtures, see what delights are in store for them on the cold winter mid week evenings with thoughts along the lines of ****, that was nearly us. (and the obligatory small gloat of course). Then back to ours, see if there`s a few in a row where we might get a little run. After that, take it as it comes. That`s about it really.
I look at the first six games, try to guess how many points we will get, usually have been over optimistic, but am feeling this time things will improve, we should be a lot fitter for a start and am excited about seeing who Sam will bring in.
Well Mr J is kind of a scouser - brought up in Elsmere Port, but I soon converted him to the joy of being a Sunderland fan
Ideally want to avoid newly promoted teams or teams with managers making their debuts on the first game. A team which lost their momentum a bit towards the end of last season would probably be the best chance of points, so Palace, Bournemouth or Watford at home. Whoever we get I'm sure we'll be a lot more prepared than last year, which admittedly isn't saying much...
Probably coz it's so ****ing ridiculous! Hope they go down next season, their owners are dickheads and Deeney's a thug. Agree about your sentiment as well mate, I think Palace at home first game would probably be just about the best fixture we could ask for?
Aye I agree mate, nothing particular against their fans, but any club that gets through that many managers makes the Mags look relatively stable. Palace at home would probably be best, but no doubt Wickham would pick that game to do his annual Pele impression...
