Yeah that backs up what I've read so far as well. Seems a decent place to congregate but not for actually drinking in bars. The Naviligo (sp?) canals area looks pretty decent.

I should hope I can actually get affordable flights/hotel before worrying too much about this tbh <laugh>

If I finish work at 3pm, in Shirley/Coxford area - and I'll need to get home first. What's my chances of making a 19:45 flight at London City Airport? How much time before the flight do I need to be there?

FA Cup game at Highbury was my first away game, we lost and Mark Wright broke his leg

If you check in online and only take hand luggage an hour should do it at an airport you don't know. Also pay for express security.

That makes it 18:45. Assume ready to leave home at 15:45, that gives you three hours. If it was me and the train times fitted, I'd go train and tube.

Yep... i reckon thats doable then. Can get the 16.00 train n get to waterloo for 17.25. That leaves over an hour for 2 tubes. Well doable i reckon

It's about 30 minutes by tube on a good service, so should be plenty of time

White Hart Lane, I was there too.

Edit: Fats has already pointed out your error. Highbury was 2 years before, featuring E****** and the infamous A***** H****.

    Glad you didn't say it!!

UI was at the Lane that day too. You could hear the crack as Wright broke his leg. I was behind the goal where it happened. Horrible. I still say to this day, he would have stopped that cheating little Argentinian bastard... no, not Poch... Maradonna :)

Nothing would have stopped Maradonna - not the "hand of god", the other goal. Potentially the best goal ever scored in a WC.

Our accommodation is in the Citta Studi area of Milan, so north-east corner. Is that any good location wise...??

Yes, I remember hearing the crack, even from the top of that pre-Taylor Report seething terrace behind the goal, as Craig Johnson and Wrighty came together.

Somehow I wasn't anywhere near as disappointed to lose that day as in the '84 game at Highbury. No broken legs that day, but plenty of broken hearts!

Just booked my flight out @ £28 & got match ticket! :1980_boogie_down: Buzzing. Wasn't originally going as my son couldn't get time off work but all the talk about "it'll be ok going on your own" convinced me. Went to Steau which was amazing. Did Anderlect as well, so showing my age now! Just need to get return sorted now but not so important!<laugh>

My first away, that I can remember was WBA in 76 cup run but must have done a few before. I'll have to get my thinking cap on. COYS<party>

We were in Milan in April and stayed just off Corso Buenos Aires which runs on the left hand side of where you are going. The area is certainly not rough and there are plenty of restaurants but not many bars if I remember correctly. There are plenty of metro station around and getting to the San Siro is only about a 20 min journey. You may have to change trains but the system is very easy to use and there is a station right outside the ground. You can buy tickets from shops in the station.
