He's obviously not on £160 a week, but even if he was, scholars get massive matchday fees for each first team appearances.

We triggered a one year extension, but he's still on a scholarship contract and unless we offer him some decent terms, he'll be gone for peanuts when it ends.

Not to be picky, but isn't "Men's U18s" a bit of contradiction? I know it sounds a bit less BBC than "Men's Schoolboys", but that's what it is given recent changes to education.

Fought back from career threatening issues. Always gave 100%. Some twat on here even suggested he was our best ever midfield player,

Funny how as soon as he plays for a top 10 club he's good enough.

Livermore was not our best ever midfielder, he's nowhere near as good as Huddlestone for a start and he's nowhere near good enough for England either.

Jake didn't always give 100% either.

It just goes to show how bad England are if someone thinks Jake is even remotely good enough to play

I haven't worked out how to find old threads. I think you're right, but probably start and finish with Tom. Toms probably in the form of his life atm, probably because SIlva has built the team around him. At the time, it was a toss up between Tom and Livermore in terms of playing at the highest level for a sustained period with City. But does say a lot about the standard of English football at the moment

This was the opening post of a thread I started which has since been merged. No problem with that, but to put this into context, I wasn't saying I agree he's good enough, just a 'well done'. I did like his attitude both on and off the pitch. And I guess football is about opinions. Someone who knows far more about the game than any of us, watches far more football than us, has access to scouts/ performance data and other 'experts' and who's job depends on getting the selection right, clearly thinks he is good enough.

England are poor but Southgate and the other people responsible for selecting him are clearly idiots.
