We conceded 51 Premier League goals in the games Harry played in (we conceded 7 in the games he didn't play in).
Isn't the point of a coach (i.e. Southgate) to coach those with obvious raw talent and ability (i.e. Maguire)? Forget where it was posted earlier this week, but Harry has the best 'stats' (which seems to be the only criteria used in football nowadays) in the Prem League this season for defenders, rubbing shoulders with those from man u and arsenal. But deemed not good enough even for the squad. Isn't that what happens, draft those with potential into it so they're readied for the future? They know they're unlikely to play, but ..... Maybe Southgate doesn't just want to get rid of the 'Island Mentality', but also the parochial 'plays for unfashionable club therefore not good enough'. Prize twat.
Southgate's job is not to coach those with raw talent, he only gets them for a couple of weeks at a time, the clubs nurture talent and he picks them when they're ready to play for England. He was passed over for a player from Boro, so the 'fashionable club' thing obviously isn't a factor.
Which is the better player... Gibson or Harry? Be careful with your answer, because one isn't just better, he's waaaaaay better.
We've got a qualification game in two days, I'm not sure how much nurturing you think Southgate can do in two days, I'd suggest not a lot. He's obviously going to pick a player he thinks is most ready to drop into the current team and get a result. I know Harry's our player and we all rate him, but there's been some utterly ridiculous over the top ****e posted about him over the past week or so.
It's not about Southgate turning Maguire or others into Bobby Moore or Rio in two days, it's about letting the player know he has been watched, he is in the future plans, because he is good enough, shows enough raw talent - which Maguire does, as does Nathan Redmond, James Ward-Prowse, Jake etc It's not just City fans (or managers) with rose tinted spectacles that have been spouting utterly ridiculous over the top ****e in the past week or so.
Southgate will have had Mcguire watched, I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't spoken to him, to say he is on the watch list and to keep performing well and it time will come.
taylor of villa just commited an absolutely atrocious tackle on coleman disgusting, should be banned for 5 games for that
