"It was disappointing how it ended. The club wanted to go in one direction and I didn’t. That is football sometimes. But Hull was still a special time in my career" Steve Bruce http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...ready-to-welcome-old-club-hull-city-1-8683410
“Of course, a lot of the players I signed or helped develop have left – and earned good money for the club. Lads like Maguire, Livermore, Robertson, Brady, Chester, there are quite a few. “The size of the fees shows we must have been doing something right. I have to credit my staff for that, and in particular the scouts. They were the ones who pushed me to sign lads like Maguire, Robertson and Clucas." Yes, you can see why Ehab Allam must have been unwilling to trust the judgement of SB and his team on signing new larkers based on the above.....
New things are happening at the club! In honour of the local speedway team, and people's blocking of the name change, local team Hull City (The Tigers) Association Football Club Limited is being renamed Hull Viking. In addition to this, a new newspaper, Hull Viking News, will be published. The paper will have breaking stories from the club and will be released two days before every big game, to cause maximum impact. That is all.
"I wanted to sign new players and the owner's son was jealous of my profile and popularity, so was determined to prove to his father that he was in charge rather than me. Plus of course, he wanted to avoid paying me compo so engineered my dismissal."
I'd have said the biggest extension of the truth in there is The Jak: Barmby found and trialled him, offered him a deal, was sacked, the club withdrew it, Bruce couldn't find anyone else, reoffered him the same deal, Jak signed, Bruce spent 4 years rubbishing him and not playing him, he left, Jak became our regular starter and then we sold him for a healthy profit. Even Bruce himself would surely concede he did ****-all here.
For someone who grew up in the 70's the FA Cup Final was always special. And we, Hull City AFC, played in one. Can't see it happening again any time soon which makes the memory even sweeter. And should've ****ing won it !!
We should have won it because it was never a corner , let's not go there, still winds me up the little that was made of that in the media , only Colin ****er got mad on our behalf
