It was Alex's best game in a City shirt that day, if either a) his header hadn't been cleared off the line and we'd gone 3-0 up, or b) he never got injured and carried on the same, we would've won. All in the past now though. Regardless of result I don't think I've ever been prouder of my team and had a better day than that watching City. Maybe the playoff final first time round, but hard to remember properly now.
In my experience, the only moment of sheer joy greater than Davies' goal in the cup final, was Cousin's at The Emirates.
The first goal was good , but still thought going to lose 4-1 instead of 4-0 , that 2nd goal tho , actually thought we were going to win the cup!
naaah - we won every other round without him, he was picked by his dad for the final in the worst case of nepotism in sport - it back fired and we lost because he gave away their first goal and gave the impetus back to them when we were well on top - as soon as Brucie left he never played for us again - now Junior's left no-one wants him either, even his dad - speaks volumes about how the rest of football views him - his only supporters seem to be the odd clown who actually believes he had Suarez in this pocket - he didn't
You're not supposed to mention Nick Barmby.. he never existed.. shame he's never given his side of the story..
Reading that, if his career as manager finished now, then his time with us was the one he enjoyed the most. Nice to read he still has an affection for the club, even if he doesn't for Ehab.
Greatest manager we ever had. I got sick of defending him. On here. Treat like **** and as a useless **** by most posters. Mebbe Hull City gets the chairman the fans deserve.
we ain't playing in the champions league, there's no maldinis or hummels available for us but alex bruce did a very good job for us and that is a fact
I wore my 08 play-off final shirt On Tuesday, I couldn't see another one in the 2000 that were there..
Had Rehab allowed Brucie to build on the squad we had at the beginning of last season, we would have finished well clear of relegation and with further investment, could have become established in Premier League.
Bruce was a great man manager, and a thoroughly nice bloke, the sort you would love to go an have a pint with and chat all day. But lets not let forget that he often made strange overly defensive substitutions late in games that cost us vital points, and I will never understand why we didn't play our strongest team in the Europa League qualifying games.. We should have got through to the group stages at least. Anyway I really hope he gets Villa up this season, not because I like Villa, far from it, but just for Steve Bruce as a person, and it will be a nice two fingers up to the Allams, that's why he was so very expensive old man Allam.
While we all accept he did go defensive, to protect a lead, it was a myth that it cost us a lot of points. Quite the opposite, he actually had a fantastic record of closing out games where we had a lead. Not the prettiest and certainly nerve wracking, but he DID know how to close a game out. Kind of agree with Europa League team, but again, we were relegated mainly due to injuries that season. Does that not vindicate his decision to use squad rotation? We did start playing several weeks before anyone else, and he knew what lay ahead. And it would be hilarious if Villa did get promotion purely to rub Allams noses in it
