Caught out of position twice, flat footed three times, didn't even dive for the free kick or that early chance in the first half which is pathetic. Didn't command his area, defenders blatantly had no confidence in him,, he got lobbed, can't kick the ball to a city player. If he starts in goal on Saturday Silva is a ****ing idiot. Hopefully he can see what the rest of us can.
I thought Xmas had gone, so to late for the 3 Wise Men: Spoiler: Likers Doug, originallambrettaman and Kempton like this.
I know he's only joking but the jak was pretty **** tonight. Can't catch to save his life and rarely comes for a cross. Marshall is a better keeper, not the gaping chasm of class between them as I thought at the start of the season because Marshall looks to be a player in decline. He gets my vote over the jak though. I can't get on with jakopovic's technique. Everything about it is the opposite of what you get taught as a goalkeeper. He has amazing reactions and brilliant passion, but nothing much else I'm afraid.
I thought he made a pretty fantastic save against Mata in the first few minutes, held the ball well, distribution lets him down a bit, but we got to HT at 0-0, we were undone by an offside goal, and then by tired defenders at the end. The Pogba FK was phenomenal, but yes he was rooted to the spot. Keep in mind we had two midfielders in defence so their communication with Jak was always going to be iffy. Not trying to excuse him his faults, but FFS, the amount of giddy tweets about him not diving to save Pogba's FK - which I might point out didn't go in - is a bit odd when those same people never blame Marshall when he is similarly rooted to the spot - which by the way happened numerous times against Everton and WBA, not just once.
I agree about the free kick. Most keepers wouldn't have moved. I just think in general he's not a great keeper his technique is so unorthodox. It's also very frustrating when he gets a backpass under littler or no pressure and just puts his foot through it. He's scared to make a mistake in my opinion.
If he'd have dived it could easily have hit the post bounced out and hit him on the back and gone in - inspired keeping
I think what it needs to boil down to is this. However limited people think Jakupovic is, however more technically gifted Marshall may be, Jakupovic has a better record this season in terms of goals conceded. Whether that is sheer dumb luck, or secret amazing ability, Jakupovic seems to be doing better. It needs to be that simple. It would be like signing Diego Costa and Danny Graham, and Graham seems to keep scoring weird deflected goals off his ass, and Costa keeps missing the goal. You play the guy who is putting the goals in until that stops.
