Centre back will be Osbourne as a back up, he didn't play yesterday because he's right sided and it was the left side that needed to be replaced. Striker I get the feeling we might be seeing two as Wilbs is not going to be playing next season so he will need replacing. Would like to see more of Todd Kane in that position but based on one game, I was impressed with him in that position. Like Wilbs Elliott won't be playing much if we get to the championship so he needs a replacement and quickly. So I would like to see two forwards one possible midfielder a keeper as a back up and challenge to Feilding and poss a left sided defender. So I'm looking at 5 but 3 ready to step up to the plate now.
Careful balancing act here, the good form we have shown is down to a great squad camaraderie and that is so much more important than a couple of squad players, I would like to see a high scoring striker in to see us over the line but I still think Agard is settling and could be top striker, he's losing a bit of confidence and we need to be patient with him, He showed a lot of character picking up the ball for that penalty but it was a woeful effort, he needs a goal quickly. Matt Smith was also clearly trying too hard but hopefully that goal will boost him, (he has very little pace though)
Trouble is Doyle will cost at least £2.5million Sears at least £1.5million and decent players around £1mullion for championship quality.

Someone outside the ground on Friday said he had inside information that Doyle is a done deal at £1.2 million. Also that Sears is coming, but did not quote a figure, as back up for Wade. So let us just wait and see if he was correct.
Doyle is out of contract in the summer and this is his first season where he has scored a decent amount, he also wants to leave chesterfield. No way on earth anyone would pay 2.5 mil for him. We could probably get him at about 500k. As for sears again, nobody would pay anything near that for him, We didn't even pay that for Agard and he scored 20+ goals in this league and got promoted. Sears, which I really hope we don't go any further with, would be about 250k.. Agree with ROD, need a new keeper in. I also want to see a right winger, at the moment we have a squad only capable of playing 3-5-2/5-3-2. To many CM's and not enough wide men. Replacements for Elliot and Wilbs also very important. So GK, RM/RW, CM, ST.
If Doyle is a done deal then great but as Shiny said the price tag of £2.5m is unrealistic. Not sure Sears is that great...?
Sears looks average in a very poor Colchester team IMO. Of the two, Doyle is head and shoulders above Sears
Doyle is having a good season, but also Matt Smith had a good season hence why Leeds and then Fulham paid that money for him. And look at welcome we give him now! We get all excited like we did with Agard then if they don't score hatrick three games running we say he's a waste of money.
