Javier Manquillo is having a medical with us - signing on a permanent deal.

    Thoughts?

Basically any RB Sunderland loan, you will sign.

Difficult to say. Looked decent at one stage but then struggled at the Mackems (or at least didn't pull up any trees). Obviously you don't bounce around teams like Liverpool, Marseille, and Atletico Madrid without having shown something (plus playing for Spain at most levels). Bottom line is though he hasn't achieved very much so far in his career so the jury is definitely out. Him and Yedlin could be a potential weakness. It will largely depend on formation for me. I think Yedlin could make a cracking wing back in a 343 or 352. However he could be vulnerable in a 4.

Looks like a cheap option to fatten our defensive resources.

Can't pretend I know a great deal about him. It's a position we needed a signing in though, so at least we're getting the right positions filled. Whether it is with the right people, only time will tell.

Would Moreno not be a good option if we moved to 3 at the back?? Great going forward but a suspect defensively.

Gotta say I'm hardly filled with optimism, could only manage to get in the team for half the games, when playing in that absolute shower of **** of a Sunderland team last term.

Is he Anita's replacement? Would rather have hung on to Anita.

Did Sunderland not have an obligation to pay £16m for him upon a certain amount of appearances?

How much is this transfer to Newcastle costing?

On a serious note, will he be any good? Athletico have a transfer embargo currently and cant sign players so unless his contract runs out this year I don't think they'd be looking to sell a 23y/o prospect with no hope of replacing him if they were any good.

About £4.5m apparently - so not a huge outlay in today's ridiculous market
