Follow on TwitterQPR have moved to sign free agent Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and are closing in on Swindon pair Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin, Goal understands.

Former Arsenal forward Emmanuel-Thomas scored 12 goals for Bristol City last season as they clinched promotion to the Championship, but left the club after his contract expired.

Emmanuel-Thomas is understood to have attracted interest from Premier League sides Aston Villa, Watford and Bournemouth and has held talks with a number of clubs.

But QPR, who are gearing up for life in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League, are hopeful of agreeing a deal with the 24-year-old.

QPR boss Chris Ramsey is also set to be reunited with Luongo, who had a medical in west London on Tuesday.

Ramsey coached 22-year-old Luongo while the Australian was a part of Tottenham's youth academy, before he left Spurs for Swindon in 2013.

Midfielder Gladwin, 22, has also undergone a medical ahead of a move to QPR after Swindon were soundly beaten by Preston in the League One play-off final.

QPR's recruitment drive for young talent follows the release of six experienced players with Joey Barton, Rio Ferdinand, Richard Dunne, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Bobby Zamora and Brian Murphy all leaving.

    Thoughts?
Anyone watched any League One? Why wouldn't Bristol City want to keep?

Good question. Why wouldn't Bristol City try and keep him? Or if he wants to leave, why would he join another Championship club?

Ipswich offloaded him because he was hugely inconsistent and could be very lazy.

He's done well at Bristol City to the surprise of everyone in these parts but I have a suspicion that it's because he likes running amok against lesser defences.

Almost unplayable on the one in 10 or so that he could be bothered.

    A no from me.

He's far too laid back for my liking. He's one of them frustrating players that has a great game and is unplayable but you have to wait for another ten before he can be arsed to do it again.

You put in a much more concise way though, so much better.

However, spelling Matt wrong is unforgivable... ;)

I really am losing it. To make it worse I had your name spelt with a double 'T' and then removed it. <doh>

My concern is that we are looking at a player who has been released from a team that was in league one last season and obviously have decided he is not up to the Championship.
