http://www.skysports.com/football/n...rns-for-southampton-more-determined-than-ever I hope it's not posted elsewhere but I felt it needed a thread. Welcome back Jay and keep up that recovery. A timely reminder to those knocking him this week. It's a long road back and he's not reached the end yet. Knock em out, one goal
He's a lovely lad and has been through so much, one can only wish him the best. In the interview, he mentioned his wife, he said recently that when he first referred to his wife it made him feel all grown up.
He'll feel properly grown up and married when he starts 'deferring' to his wife, rather than referring to her!
Top bloke, he's going to get better and better. I don't recall anyone knocking him in any other threads! Everyone is completely behind him from what I've seen and heard!
What does it mean that he was knocked? He was fairly anonymous against Midgetland, had no impact in the attack whatsoever (not all down to him, he wasn't help by our style of play), missed a glorious chance early on by trying to pass the ball instead of taking the shot, and was one of the main culprits for the conceded goal. It was by all accounts a poor display by Jay and some people have noted that.
Jay is, like most forwards, a confidence player. Once he gets a few goals, he will be flying. We all know the ability is there, but match sharpness is not quite yet, the last thing he needs is fans on his back at this stage of his recovery, just requires a bit of patience that he deserves.
I think we all agree he didn't play well, but by saying he was "knocked" I mean people moaned about him. Does one poor game make him a bad player? I read some posts that really "knocked" him, one suggesting he was right at the bottom of the list for selection. I've seen glimpses that tell me he is gradually getting there.
