http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-39003392 maybe I should leave my phone at home when i visit my daughter in 10 days....They may read all my Wembley posts!!!
Good, and no problem. One thing I've learned about it since is that, on the PC edition, there are good basic explanations to help, in 'Tips & Notes'. I've almost exclusively been doing the course on my phone, because it's so easy to do a lesson here and there at the odd moment, but that option isn't available there. However, whether you do it on your phone, tablet, or computer, it is all tied in together, and this happens even if you haven't 'synced' your various devices, so it all builds up together.
Reason I didn't fancy seeing it. Just founding a successful company doesn't necessarily make your story interesting.
He didn't found it. He stole it off two brothers then ran them put of business and stole his friends wife. It's a good movie, just shows how bad Kroc was. In the movie after basically taking over the Mcdonald's business, Kroc offered to buy them out when one of the brothers was in hospital after a angina attack. In the deal the brothers were meant to get 1% of earnings per year for life (passed on to their family). But Kroc went back on the deal which would have seen them get $100m per year.
So, me and my girlfriend are expecting our first child in the summer, a daughter by the look of it. We've settled on the name Sophie, and I'm fighting my battle for the middle name Anne, but it keeps getting denied as I think she's on to me
I watched Hacksaw Ridge, yesterday. Wow, what a story. What an incredibly brave man. I would recommend this film to anyone, with the proviso that they are prepared for some gory and graphic battle scenes. A look at the enclosed link, records even more bravery, that wasn't included in the film, for fear it wouldn't be believed and make the film unbelievable. http://www.historyvshollywood.com/reelfaces/hacksaw-ridge/
Congratulations!! Funny that with the name. We didn't know the sex but for our first, my wife liked Matthew, so I (too quickly) said what about Lee for a second name.... my beaming smile gave it away!!! I was so close to a son called Matt Le
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...an-finds-five-pound-note-worth-50000-donates/ Nice story for a change. An elderly woman has found the third valuable £5 note and has asked for the money to be used to help young people.
Did some reading up on this Beefy, because I intend to watch the film. It seems that Kroc was an unsuccessful salesman who obtained some rare sales from the McDonald brothers. He went back to see them and was astonished at their new system for making and serving burgers [it was originally hot-dogs]. He advised them to franchise, which they had already done, but unsuccessfully because their agent had died. They wanted to franchise a little bit, but to keep the business down to something they could cope with. As long as they were comfortably off they were happy. Kroc was all out for massive franchising, but to keep control to himself. In the early 60's he bought out the McDonald brothers for $2.7M [$1M each after tax], plus 2% of all profits for life. It's a measure of the brothers that they reduced it to 1.9% because they thought 2% was being greedy. Kroc was high on standards, but he was very ruthless, whereas the McDonald brothers appear to have been OK guys. I suspect that Kroc realised they were a bit naive and took huge advantage. Michael Keaton's career has leaped in quality in recent years [Birdman, Spotlight] and he's always been excellent in the right part. This looks like another.
