Hes just said our board need a long hard look at themselves and if he was left alone to do his job hed still be in charge now
As I remember it he threw his toys out of the pram when Short as a new owner asked a few questions. I'm sure this could have been resolved amicably but that's not Roy Keane's style. Maybe he could have been there for considerably longer but I'm sure they'd be another flash point somewhere down the line.
Aye, im sure my boss would have something to say aswell if i lived a few hundred mile from my workplace, and went in as and when i felt like it.
They do need to look at themselves, but I'll lay off as I'll end up going round in more circles than our bloody football club. Doubt he'd still be here though, we can't print money.
He had everything to do with it fella quite right. Our affection shouldn't cloud us from the truth, his frivolous business practice triggered this entire mess
Just a debatable point, but if the Quinn/Keane team was still together Quinn could be seen as the DoF buying in the players RK asked for. What's in a title?
Best part of Roy Keane stuff last night was when he was asked about Robbie Keane (who's wife has just had a baby) and he said he was playing, then the sky reporter said "Is he fit?" and keane said "Why wouldn;t he be, it's not like he had the baby - but if he was breastfeeding it may be a problem" (words to that effect) - class!!
You know, there were questions about Roy's commitment and whether he bought into the club, but anyone who's read his second autobiography, and I'm sure many have, well he ****ing did buy into the club and he loved it. Could he have done a better job than those who followed? Well, I genuinely don't think we'd be worse off. I got the impression that he, and a couple of subsequent gaffers, felt Short was a self important prick. He walked cos of that, not the rumours he was questioned about how long he spent on the training pitch, rumours that were confirmed as nonsense by the way but **** sticks.
I recently read his 2nd book and agree with the above. I think had he been left to get on with it we would be in a better position now. I think Short is a typical successful business man: in that because he has been successful in one business he can be successful in another. Football (a bit like the music industry) is a completely different type of business, it is complex and does not conform to the usual rules.
I liked the lad and think eventually he will become a very good manager.....part of management is not only managing people below you....you need to manage people above you as well....obviously at Sunderland he didn't get this bit right....wouldn't mind bringing him at the moment if all else failed but never going to happen.....certainly wouldn't stand for any ****....
A "Who Would Have Keane Back" poll would be interesting. I bet a large percentage, including myself, would have him back as I think he will have learned a great deal since his departure.
