If we have nothing to play for, i'd like to see SKD play in the last match against Palace, it would put him in the public spotlight and would probably mean a few extra thousand on his testimonial gate.
As part of the night, Saints have arranged 'the ultimate penalty shootout'... please log in to view this image
Poor old Dan Harding, came out with two of the most popular players this club has ever had. Think Lambert got more love from the crowd than Le God. Surely they're not all that young
I was actually slightly surprised by the muted applause. I guess that goes with the territory these days.
No word of a lie, I was chatting to the guy next to me before the kick off (the same guy who shared my views on the Harding-Dickson debate) about the testimonial. I said that I was surprised that they'd only announced Rickie so far, and that "at this rate it will just be Rickie and bloody Harding turning up"*. And then 45 minutes later... *going purely on the basis that he plays for Eastleigh, not because I knew he was definitely playing.
Rickie said previously than playing for Saints was the best thing to happen to him....and I think having him play for Saints was one of the best things for us. Great lad.
Worryingly we're getting to a point where a lot will just know him more from Soccer Saturday! ARGGHH!!!
Then it is our job to bash it in to them that he was the greatest talent we had. Montage of goals every home game on the big screens?
At least. Along with the enforced singing of the "Matt Le Tiss" song from the age of 3 upwards. And that's being generous.
