I usually cling to dislike in football, but I feel over it. He was a great appointment for us, and he made a bit of a mug of himself when he left, but what a thoroughly enjoyable two years. We will never finish a season as strong as last, it was the perfect run. We march on.....
Oh no Jonny, I can't agree..... ...he is a corpulent, rapacious, mendacious, dupilcitous ginger twat.....
We owe Koeman a hell of a lot more than Koeman ever owed us. Looks like he has landed on his feet; good luck to him.
Am i the the only one that does not hate/dislike him? Seems like he didint want to sign a new contract and the club did not want him going into his last year of the then current deal.i can see why it ended the way it did .
I came on here hoping someone may have noted that RK has had the same effect on Everton as he did on us. Surprisingly good start to the season despite loss of significant player and no headline signings. It seems to be what he does. What no-one knows is how he develops beyond this. He showed no interest in developing the Saints youth - and he may have had his reasons. Overall he gave us a good time for 2 years - and I strongly suspect that he may perform the same trick at Everton. But please, let's move on. I'm going to stick my neck out and say the Puel will prove a great managerial signing.
No, I don't dislike him. He seems adept at hitting the ground running, and clearly a very effective manager. I'd like the results to start turning downwards soon, though, and for an Everton finish outside the Europa spots, plus no cups.
Much as I don't like the fact that Koeman left Saints, having qualified for the Europa League, to go to Everton who didn't, I do have to acknowledge that in going to Everton he has gone to a club which has greater overall aspirations. Whether that is logical, given that Liverpool is supporting two teams, and Liverpool, the city, divided by two is smaller than one whole Southampton city, Everton see themselves as a former giant and want to get back there, whereas Southampton still continues to think of itself as a smaller club. Which is kind of counter productive to success, because while you think yourself smaller you will absolutely remain smaller. Everton's idea to push forward is what I've said about Southampton. We shouldn't be content to be where we are. We have one of the richest owners in the league and are participating in the richest league in the World [perhaps bar China maybe now], yet we have the perceived ambition to be upper mid-table and in the competition we are in, in Europe. Is that good enough.? It appears that Koeman thought we were limited in our ambition and decided to go to a club who he thought would make it easier to get himself to Barcelona eventually. In spite of my disappointment, now that the dust has settled, I can't blame him for that. And it's because of that, that my feeling of betrayal has completely disappeared. Besides, I think Puel is pretty good actually, and although we're a great striker short, we're in a pretty good position to do well again this season.
We're doing things our way. That's not a lack of ambition. It's just a different way of doing things. I'm surprised you don't see that.
Christ, I'm amazed you assume I'm blinkered. Of course I do see that. Doing things our way is not going to get us all the way. It gives us a big advantage, but we do have to have the conceit to be bigger than we are.
You don't know that doing it the other way (whatever way that is for you) will either. I'm not sure who you mean by "we," the fans or the Board. Do you know how the board see us?
