After going 2 sets down and playing below par, Murray has turned it on and taken the third set. May still lose, but at least it won't be tamely.
I honestly struggle to fathom what exactly Emirates would get for plastering their name all over the Spinneker. And in general, I don't get sponsorship. Yes, it's great for building awareness, but everyone knows who Emirates are unless you've live under a rock (and I suppose their sponsorship of Arsenal has helped them with that) but seriously, do many people in Portsmouth not know who Emirates are? And for fairly ubiquitous companies like Samsung, it seems even more pointless. Or are people so shallow that they are going to buy a product/service simply because the name of that company happens to sponsor the football team they support, or a landmark in the city they live in? Since I've been a Portsmouth fan we've been sponsored by TY, Oki and Jobsite. I don't have any Beanie Babies, I don't have a printer and if I did it probably wouldn't be an Oki and... I have been on Jobsite when looking for work but I actually used it less than other sites.
It's happening in time for the America's cup, so it's a cheap way of getting a lot of brand awareness & advertising internationally. According to South today, they're paying £3mn over the next 5(?) years - as a business that's worth £12bn, it's a bargain.
In my experience, the biggest problem comes when the current Mrs Vin says "turn right" and I forget to ask "which one"? If I do remember to ask, it's normally followed by a flustered hand signal and my comment "Oh that right, the one that's on the left" Vin
