Yeah US tv companies are worse. I really liked Constantine, but that only lasted a season. They only want series that get crazy viewing figures.
One thing Amazon do quite well is commission pilot episodes of a wide range of types of programmes, then ask subscribers for feedback before they go for a whole series. That seems a prudent way of experimenting. ITV do the same sometimes, with series like Endeavour, the Morse prequel, but I don't know if the BBC do pilots.
Valentino Rossi won the Silverstone British MotoGP today to once again take a clear lead in the World Championship.
The BBC have been told by Cameron and his rich boys that they must meet the cost of my free TV licence. Do you think he will tell his best mate who owns Sky that he must provide me with free access to his channels as well. I very much doubt it therefore I will still be sat in the corner at the pub watching the footy on the telly when Saints are on.
There is a big petition out demanding the Govt do a hands-off the BBC which I've signed. I also emailed my local MP Caroline Nokes but she is towing her party line. Never mind. I didn't expect anything from her anyway. Interestingly, the Beeb commissioned an independent survey company carry out an experiment. They got 72 families who thoroughly objected to paying the $145.50 pa licence to do without the Beeb services. They lasted 9 days. Most said it was awful and that they'd taken the Beeb for granted. One even said that effectively paying £12.50 per month was peanuts when he was paying £70 pm for Sky. The BBC paid back the money to all those missing their services over the time.
I'm just glad he was all done and packed up by the time I reached home... Being 7 miles down the road
England Ladies win the European Hockey title, beating Holland. Holland are World and Olympic champs, btw.
Cracking conclusion to the Indycar championship at the moment on BTSport 2 if anyone is bored. Just a few laps to run and still anybodies.
I too have signed this. The BBC is something we all must defend unless you are happy to accept the moronic tosh that commercial TV pushes out. The licence fee is worth it for Radios 3, 4 and 5 alone. It is a disgrace to think that Government broadcasting policy is agreed at a secret meeting between Cameron and Rupert Murdoch. This man has dumbed down the Times to such an extent that as a socialist I now prefer to read the Daily Telegraph.
And proven to own a company who have indulged in hacking of people's personal phones. Rebekah Brooks is understood to be worming her way back in to that organisation, which shows that Murdoch gathers his people around him: http://www.theguardian.com/media/20...hief-campaigners-attack-report-rupert-murdoch Not people of merit and honour. Murdoch is also the last person who I would allow in as an advisor on how to curb the activities of the world's best quality broadcaster. Instead of curbing the BBC, we should be f****** well proud of it.
