UOTE="Home_and_Away, post: 7772583, member: 1025880"]Another great last 'away' day was Notts County 1993.
About 6 teams could have gone down and even tho we got beat we stayed up by the skin of our teeth.
I drove up from Pompey with a few mates (SAFC, palace, Bris C, Spurs) and we couldn't get in the away end.
We ended up getting into the family section and after I ran on the pitch after County scored their 2nd goal I got nicked. One of my mates tried to save the day by telling the copper.."you can't nick him... He's driving" !! <doh>
It didn't help the matter :emoticon-0167-beer:... Ha ha[/QUOTE]
I too was in the Notts County end and was one of the 1st on the pitch at the end along side many hundreds of others. Great shout for picking this game out mate. I'm sure Brentford ended up going down? At one time with half an hour to go maybe less we were down!

I poisted a thread on BBC 606 asfter that which got pulled - a sarcastic "TGhe mags can **** up anything" type thing where Gareth Barry, who normally was pretty good at shooting and passing back then, put in a shot that was going out for a throw in so as not to relegate them and duff (think) booted it into his own net!! Class - Have to say that was excellent as well - the place went crazy when they went down!

Brum game in 1999 was one of my favourites - 105 point season!

The home leg of this is also a nightmare of mine..Relegated on the away goals rule and scumbag Mags at Roker Park to support Gillingham and having to be protected by a massive police cordon..Is it any wonder why I hate them so much..

Best Home Game - Safc 2 Man Utd 2 from the mid 80's. Dave Hodgeson and Mark Hughes got sent off. Mental game

Best Away game - Derby 0 Safc 5 - absolutely brilliant! Peter Reid's team were ready for the Prem

I remember that game. I think there was 19,000 in the ground, 12,000 of them Sunderland fans. Wasn't the kick off delayed to get them all in?

    Sounds about right marra..

Biggest away following I can remember being in on the 'last day' was Man City away 1991.
The support was unbelievable even tho we got beat 3-2 and subsequently went down.
    Bloody Niall Quinn !!!!

I was there. Was that where Jeff Clarke broke his leg?

Welsh tw*ts had raised the prices to get in. I remember the big door somehow falling off and quite a few, me inc, getting in for Nowt. Serves them right

Winning at Anfield in 1984 (I think) last game of the season to keep us up. After the Swindon play off match about a week later, when we got promoted due to the Lou Macari scandal , the mags were not too happy mind !

It was 1981 marra... My hero Stan Cummins with the only goal. Phil Neal hit the bar right at the death for L'pool.
I remember a bit of a hullabaloo when it came to light that Bob Paisley had brought a bottle of champagne to the Sunderland dressing room after the game <bubbly>. Cheers Bob :emoticon-0148-yes:

I remember that one for all the wrong reasons. What a **** day that was.
I also vividly remember Man City away, 2001 (2?) - awful result, but one of my favourite days out on a long, fun sesh round Manchester.

That was incredible. Anfield Rd., at that time, was the one place on earth you wouldn't want to go to save yourselves from relegation - and little Stan did the biz! <cheers> I remember Bob Paisley say afterwards "If we play like that again they'll haul us in front of the stewards" What a crazy day!
