Aston Villa's decision to leave defender Tommy Elphick, 29, and striker Ross McCormack, 30, out of their pre-season games in Germany has given Sunderland hope of signing the pair. (Birmingham Mail) know nothing about these guys anyone to enlighten me, NADS?
Can only see a loan for McCormack but Villa would be mad to loan him to us. They only paid £12m for him last summer and whilst they'll have to accept a huge loss I don't even think we'd spend a third of that on one player. Don't know much about Elphick at all.
I’ve heard that McCormack is an a right arse, don’t need anymore of them. As well as Elphick, we’ve been linked with the Bristol City CB Aden Flint heard on TalkSport on Friday??
So is/was Lens, but Grayson seems to be working with him pretty well. Potentially a great signing, was tearing the championship up less than 2 seasons ago. I'd take him.
McCormack is gathering pace at the moment - quite a lot on NewsNow about it: http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Championship/Sunderland
Seems like a bit of a dickhead but man management seems to be a massive strong point of Grayson's so here's hoping he'll keep him right. McCormack, Grabban (rumoured also), McGeady, Khazri and Lens (providing they stay) is a fairly mean front-line at this level, backed up with young lads like Watmore Maja and Asoro - plenty of pace and goals there. Just defence we need to worry about.
We'll just score more than we let in. Its going to be a lot more interesting than last season that's for sure.
Worried about McCormack. Didn't watch any championship football last year, but stats alone suggest he was absolutely shocking... know if there's more to it than that mate?
I've no idea mate. He was superb for Leeds and Fulham, I just wonder if it's another case of Bruce manhandling a player. That said, there's a reason he's never had a Prem club so we know there's a flaw, but he's a smashing player when performing. We are in a position that it's worth the risk as if it pays off he could make a massive impact.
I'd take him on a season long loan, two reasons A) We get a proven Championship forward. B) It's a loan deal so if the lads a t**t then we can hoy him back to Villa. Win, win for me!!
Is it just me or are Swansea mental to turn 40 mil down for Sigurdsson and hold out for 45/50? That puts him up there with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and while he's a good player he's not that good. Set piece specialist mainly who had a particularly stand out season thanks to Swansea being so good in the air. I'd say he's a 20/25 mil player and if Everton change their minds then Swansea have missed out on a big payday. It happens as we know all too well.
Just shows how mental the market has become, he's a cracking player, but not in that bracket at all IMO. I would have sold him for that if I was Swansea - could pay for 3 really good players out of it to keep them safe.
I think even with how mad prices are getting this is still way overpriced. If they want a set piece specialist I'm sure they could get one and have a big wedge of money left. They could go for Calhanoglu for about 20 mil.
You're better off steering clear of McCormack, was the Champ top scorer in 15-16 then lazy, overweight and useless for Villa last season and did **** all, they had to loan him out to Forest and he did **** all their too. In the end he was spending more time being a half time pundit than he was actually playing. And also he's a complete tart and clearly has his eyebrows professionally plucked. Villa's squad is really bloated and they're trying to get rid of the lazy wasters as soon as possible, be very wary about any players they offer.
McCormack should be great at this level. Was one of the best players for 2-3 years and went for crazy money on a couple of occassions (more than £10m). There was some serious training issues last year and a falling out with Bruce - google "Ross McCormack gates". Great payer though. Worth a shot.
