thats sounds slightly better for a PHD.

Seriously i know total numpties who are barely competant engineers with masters or even program managers who are ordinary degrees on 140k a year in the states but are in california.

I personally know one person who just moved there who's been boosted to 110k who did a business degree having had no quals at all, just 20 years experience at various... well... slogging roles for others.

You have to remember the yanks get not benefits or protections so the high wages are balanced in the end.

That hip of yours would cost above 100k over there.

Doesn't seem obscene amount of money for someone with a PhD, cost of living is high here. When you consider electricity you pay as much in a month here as you'd pay in a quarter in the UK. And a family medical expenses could be $30k a year in an average year.

Get a Phd in Philosophy or something and you'll be lucky to break £3000 in a year <ok><laugh> and you'll get to work in a supermarket all your life. Bonus!

Yeah. You need a lot more money in the US to live a comparable lifestyle in the UK. Some things are cheaper, like food and clothing but a lot of things end up costing a lot more over here over time.

Given that RHC is head hunting him I suspect that he has a more useful degree than Philosophy, probably a real science. Especially if he's in Chapel Hill which is right in the middle of the medical sciences area. Like silicone valley is to tech, north Carolina's research triangle is to medical research.

    Property tax
    Local tax
    State and federal
    Water
    Power
    Health care
    Do own pension 401k

    And so forth.

The main issue is no supports and bills if anything at all goes wrong. The benefits over here are abused cos they are protective.

Food used to be cheaper there.

We got a house for 4 weeks over there for a project and you could live cheaply enough but decently is different.

Yeah shops can be cheaper. Other living expenses are much higher though. Fees and charges and multiple levels of government all trying to take from you. Despite taxes don't get much services. Things that are free in the UK (well... Free as in taxes pay stuff) can be expensive here.

Even sending kids to school. Supposedly it is covered by taxes but we end up spending over 2 thousand a year on each kid for school fees, books, and field trips, etc.

That would be my philosophy on it.

how to get the 15 characters to work would be interesting. I think 15 max.... then how to work in the 15 into a game about game of thrones

ramsey bolton character for instance.... that could be fun...

Agree. You could have a team of spies with them reporting back to Varys. Only the Varys role knows the identity of the spies etc.?

Could have the faceless man as the assassin.

A Bran character that can warg into a character and control them. Maybe see some useful info or get advance warning of some actions etc.

Could be a right mind **** of a game, but a nightmare to plan etc

No it wouldn't be hard to plan.

You've already sorted me 3 roles there.

    Bran. Three eyed raven.
    Arya. Assassin with a list
    Varys. Spy

    Only a few more needed.

    Ramsey is one.

Jon snow... what would he be...
    Daenerys.... dragons some how..

Some older characters. Tywin lannister, jamis and cercei... ned stark?

Could have brotherhood of banners/Nightswatch as town/police.

Dany character has to complete a quest and gets to use Drogon to kill as a reward?

Likewise Jon with Ghost? Or if a Millisandre role learns who Jon is, she could protect him from assassination/revive him?

A Littlefinger role with a hidden objective to win the game manipulating things in the background too?

Have fat Sam as the investigator?

    @Mbemba You're A Womble

    Nev can be Hodor <laugh>

Robert Baratheon as Godfather and Ned Stark as his enforcer? Renley could be the mafia prozzie?

    Tyrion as the town drunk?
