I wasn't looking for anything definitive, just an educated guess, perhaps.

Silva obviously thought Elmo was the best bet. I think Hudds sat deep again and Elmo and Robbie were used mainly as WBs; it was difficult to be clear as their constant onslaught compacted us too much. When we did break, service from wide wasn't great. I think this is what frustrated Silva, in his post match comments.

Robbo should have got a foot in on the second, but his defending was generally excellent; he pulled us out of the ****e more than once, but not wide, centrally.

I think of all our wide men, Robbo did very little wrong, Grosicki did a few decent things but often tried to do too much, Markovic did almost nothing and Elmo was appalling.

I had a goalie, Bunny, who ran the length of the pitch and sparked out the oppo GK. Not the quickest, but it's up there as memorable for me. He laid out a ref once and was banned for two years (before signing for me); proper ****ing handful! Happy days :emoticon-0105-wink:

You knew perfectly well who was being talked about. He's a RB, nothing to discuss. Happy to discuss whether he's any good or not, or whether he's PL quality or not.

Agreed. Markovic is disappointing, Elmo baffling, as we have definitely seen better.

Robbo isn't there yet, but he is definitely shaping up.

It could have been Meyler, who some (on here) would prefer to see there; it doesn't pay to take things for granted on here and no harm in checking. I asked a civil question, I got a civil answer, just not from you. Now **** off and argue with someone else. <ok>

What does Elmo actually do now? By the end of the 14/15 season I rated him as one of our most consistent ever performers, since then he just hasn't looked right to me. He seems extremely reluctant to ever try and take on a man, maybe he's lost some pace. So in those situations he either passes back or floats in a lazy, crappy cross that is easily defended. He doesn't get remotely stuck in. Positionally he's very suspect. I just don't see the point in him these days, I thought Silva could perhaps spring a bit of old life into him but that doesn't seem to be happening.

It used to be a term used for an indefinite ban from all competitive football at any level.

I was thinking the same thing OLM, we have slowed right down, when we should have just been going at them from the off. It's almost similar to when Phelan took over, but I have much more trust in Marco.

Means "without day". Used tor indefinite suspensions of a host of things.Used for adjournments and other business things when things are suspended without a date given for resumption. One of the not many things I remember from the Latin inflicted on me at school.

    Must go. Tempus fugit.

Yeah Elmo is done. Was one of my favourite players back in 12-14, but just completely lost all form of creativity and defending.

Just curious, but if we had lost to Liverpool but beaten Leicester, would we be 3 points closer to Leicester than we currently are? To those who rubbish the notion of needing to beat the teams around you.

I remember Elmo tearing Rotherham to bits in the last game of last season, then he continued that form into the play-off games. But since then, pretty useless overall. But I think he does have it in him, just lacks the desire now, he has a distinct Hernandez whiff about him attitude wise now.
