I don't know how many of you still buy the HDM because you have to buy it read the letters as they are not published on line.
I get the HDM passed onto me and I admit to only buying two editions in the past year, and the subject of this post is one of the main reasons for that.
The complaints by both managers after the recent Swansea home game regarding the state of the pitch and the subsequent comments about the ridiculous situation of having a rugby league match played on the same surface less then 24 hours before a Premier League fixture have brought out a stinging response and an out pouring of bitterness from contributors to the HDM letters pages. As yet I have not seen one letter backing City's stance in this.
All have been malicious, bad mouthed, sour attacks on our club and the sport of football in general and all behind FC so I presume they are written by fans of theirs.
First one from Barry F King ? He called us from a pig to a dog and accused all footballers of being over paid prima donna's, cheats and con men. We as a team are awful and couldn't score in a brothel and we should be grateful that FC let us play on their pitch.....etc, etc. This was the lead letter.
Then another, a few days later, again the lead letter....
'City would have more success using North Ferribys Ground'.....Hull FC are the best supported team in Super League home and away....City, on the other hand are the worst supported IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE by the size of the population .
'All the teams have less population then Hull but vastly superior attendances'......then they are listed as.....
Wolves, Norwich, M'Boro, Stoke, Southampton, Swansea, West Brom, Watford, Palace, Villa, Brighton and Derby.
'People would be amazed by the atmosphere at a FC game compared to City'....we are like a library apparently,...Our away form is listed as played 13, lost 13, goals for 4 against 36.
'Footballers do more damage to the pitch with slide tackles...etc etc etc..'
And to finish we should be playing on North Ferriby or Pickering Park.
This the lead letter in the HDM.
Followed up by three more similar letters all rubbishing football and Hull City in general.
God knows what they have printed in the editions I haven't seen yet.
    You couldn't make it up.

I stopped buying / reading such a high brow newspaper long ago. Frankly I couldn't keep up with the well thought out letters, the intellect and wit of the contributors.

To be fair, most of those teams are getting better crowds than City, and as a proportion of population with the exception of Villa and Palace far better than we do.
However, the worst supported as a percentage of population is probably Rotherham followed by TWS.

To be fair to Hull FC they do sell out every home game. The 4000 that go take up 25000 seats. The fat ****ers.

If we are the worst supported club in the football league for a city of our size/population how does that make Hull FC the best supported in their sport when they play in the same city ? ( according to the bloke writing into the HDM)

Rugby league logic. Which is different to the logic found in the real world. Castleford has a population two thirds the size of Bransholme. If the same proportion of the population of Hull watched RL as does in Castleford there would be over 50,000 people watching the two Hull clubs every week.

And this 5hite is pumped out by the local rag as the lead and headlining the letters pages without a comment or without any editing. As I said you couldn't make it up.

They don't deal in news, they publish click bait to get Web site hits so they can charge more for advertising.

FC and HKR should ground share so they can leave KCOM to the best team in Yorkshire.

We do, and I did earlier in the thread. If TWS got the same proportion of the people in the city limits going as Burnley do they would be getting over 180,000 fans each week. Mind you, if we got the same proportion as Burnley we would be getting about 65,000.

I think they have a better team than us. Controversial, but my opinion.

Oh OK. If you mean better players on paper it's not even controversial.
