I remember going to London when I was early teens. That's around 45 years ago. I stumbled across speakers corner and hate preachers spouting their poison. It was the first time I'd come across anything like it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They hated us, and our country. I felt angry and in total disbelief that people were stood around allowing it. Even as a little kid I felt like fighting back, but couldn't understand why grown men weren't already doing that. Then I noticed their henchmen.
Freedom of speech is one thing, but our rights need to be earned or deserved.
We (British) didn't create radicalism but we've done one hell of a lot, over decades, to encourage it, by our actions and our inactions, at home and abroad. And we continue to do so. Our politicians over the decades have a lot to answer for.
It's of course a complex problem, but there have always been simple actions this country could and should have taken.
Now we reap what we have sown.

Has the terror threat been raised? The security services may well be good for reducing our chances of a big attack which requires the ****s to do a great deal of planning but these low tech attacks will just keep happening and make a mockery of the idea of issuing a threat level.

If it had happened anywhere other than London it would have taken a hell of a lot longer than 3 minutes to respond. The numbers of armed officers would have been a fraction of those in London as well.

I also believe the first copper on the scene, who was stabbed and is in a critical condition , wasn't armed.

cant be long before any copper who wants a side arm gets one. We are sitting ducks without higher armed police presence. This unfortunately is not going to go away.

.Even if we did arm the police, I doubt we'd arm the Transport Police.

I think they probably need arming as much, if not more, than regular' OB in London.

If the General Election was to be suspended or postponed, then the terrorists have won a round, surely?

There are plenty of places in the UK where there are many people gathered together and still far away from the nearest policeman (or woman) whether he is armed or not.
Securing one area will only drive the lunatics to other targets.

Indeed they could, fact is you'd want the first copper arriving to be armed.

This current situation means that if the nearest OB to such an attack were unarmed, which they invariably will be, that they either attend the incident with what they have( pepper spray and a stick) and end up seriously injured or dead.

Or they standby for armed response which could take some time, all the while members of the public are being attacked.

    They are ****ed either way.
