http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...iverpool-transfer-rumours-could-rafa-13188160 Doing rounds on a few sites this morning, I'm just waiting for us to be linked with an un-retiring Gerrard way rumours are going! I'd take Leiva on a two year contract to be fair
Not that old, very good player, and experienced in the PL. We will need to surround him with a bit pace though.
Not overly keen. I think every team needs a Lucas type player, someone to sit deep, dispossess the oppo and move the ball on to the more creative players, but his movement has slowed down dramatically in the last year or so therefore he's less mobile than Jonjo Shelvey. If Shelvey is to play, then our other midfielders we need to occupy the oppo midfielders to facilitate space, that's when Jonjo is at his best, Lucas is not this type of player. You couldn't play the two together, We would effectively have 7 men behind the ball all game and would draw teams on to us. Our only escape from our own half would be long ball and this does not suit the likes of Gayle or Tammy Abraham, Benitez is also not keen on target men. I think we need to identify our style of play this year and any incoming targets need to fit that bill. it would be like buying Greizmann and playing a 5-4-1 formation with him up front on his own isolated with a lack of support. The Caybaye/Tiote was our best CM combination of recent years, tiote did the graft and dirty work, Cabaye linked and did all the pretty stuff, match made in heaven that year they were both fit and in form. this is was we need to look at re-creating.
A long-term Liverpool classic in the Premier League era. Best he stays there. Too old, too slow and well past his best. Of course, if Rafa signs him, then i'm totally wrong.
