Never heard of the guy, but that's a good write up. The youth point especially will tickle Ashley's fancy.

There's no point in discussing any of these media links.

Carver's got the job. He's the puppet of choice.

Wouldn't be so sure. Carver has served up relegation form so far. Ashley may be a c**t but he wouldn't be stupid enough to jeapordise his investment by permanently appointing an incompetent manager.

I can't see that this one has many legs. He is probably going to take Gladbach to the Champions League and has recently signed a new contract. Why come to Newcastle?

Lucien Favre is actually fantastic. Id be over the moon if we got him, but i cant see it happening. He will manage a big team one day and win the champions league. Wherever hes been hes overachieved massively. He took zuerich from being a history club turning them into a team that won the league 4/7 years as well as ups. Mönchenglatbach were a yoyo club for the longest time, now theyre a consistent contender for top 6 in germany.

He clearly has a good record, I would happily give him a shot at the Newcastle United job.

He's in a secure job just now though, would he want to gamble in the Premier League?

I think McLaren would be more or less the best choice we could possibly make. He'll want another big shot, but is just never going to manage a top 6 club, he doesn't carry the profile. We could literally get McLaren, play good football, know the behind-the-scenes structure would be completely sorted, know the manager would give youth a chance, and he could be here for a decade or longer. It's an absolute no brainer, whether Derby come up or not. All the glam of other names means nothing, it's about the right man for the job at hand and we are 100% set up for Steve McLaren.

Honestly, I will be cracking champagne if he gets the job, not even joking.

Be lovely if he took Will Hughes with him.
I'd be more than happy with McLaren and fully expect him to develop a Geordie accent.
The Pardew compensation is a really good point and, as such, I'd be disappointed if Ashley refuses to pay for McLaren
