The fans are the ones who have to cough up their hard earned by paying on the gate or increased subscriptions to TV channels. Having said that, if there is one player in the world I would gladly pay to watch it is Messi. I seen him once playing live and he scored 5 goals. I was on cloud nine walking out of the stadium at witnessing such magic. I think his heart is at Barcelona and I doubt he would leave no matter how much was being offered to him by City or anybody else.
Who would swap a lifestyle in Barca for Manky Manchester? At any price? I'm sure Barca will up his pay to keep him, probably a smart agent using City...
If he was on £800k a week he wouldn't be overpaid relative to our squad. Is he worth 20 Hoiletts or Fers? Easily
Whilst the money involved is absolutely obscene, I'd love to see Messi in the Premier League. My lad and I would try to go and watch him if he does come over.
I was in the Stadio Olimpico in 2009 when Barca beat Man U 2-0 in the Champions League Final. Messi and Ronaldo on the same pitch at the same time ... there was only one winner. Little Messi with a towering header that looked behind him that put them 2-0 up. I was glad that I was near the Barca end and also glad that Mrs Nines loves football. What a great four days we had in Roma as it was the Missus birthday, and to cap it all off we had a bottle of wine after the game sitting right next to the 'Spanish Steps' ... worst tribute band I've ever seen.
