Yes, I remember that, it would have been interesting to have heard what the big guy was saying to Sterling to keep him away!
Had we not wasted those 2 minutes throughout the second half , city would of possibly scored in injury time because it was definitely coming. We have been to "nice" over the years when it comes to sportsmanship , a bit of time wasting, kicking the odd ball away, not giving it back straight away, standing on a ball, if it means you gain an advantage who cares? Sometimes it needs to be done if you want a result.
I don't encourage diving , but if contact is made then go down and win a free kick , what's the problem? Austin does it multiple times a game and gains territory for us, it's good play.
Yeah I'm not cool with it. Waste time through actual play, taking it to the corner; pass around in defence, but not by keeping the ball deliberately out of play.
Any obvious time wasting added on anyway, hence the 5 minutes yesterday! It's just useful if a player is receiving treatment or to slow things down when the opponent has momentum.
I also hate time wasting, but we weren't actually that bad. It was the eagerness of the crowd and city players that made it seem worse. Nobody sprints to take a throw in early in the game, why should we do it at the end when the score line suits us?
What im saying is its all relative, what is normal early on shouldnt be considered time wasting just because city are desperate.
I agree, but if you can use it to your own advantage then you go down, so your team can re group or have an opportunity to stick a ball in the opponents box. All this fair play stuff means nothing IMO, you do what it takes to win whilst staying within the laws of the game.
I agree. I seem to remember the booking came 20 seconds after the ball went out of play. How is that too long?
Last time he managed a football club was thirty years ago when he managed West Brom. I know he had a lot of luck with Villa taking them to two League cup finals and into Europe but never forget he used to play for Pompey.
You must be thinking of someone else Godders. He's never managed WBA and he didn't play for Pompey. Edit; Just realised you're thinking of Ron Saunders, he's 83 .
Doesn't make it right. If referees booked people as soon as it started the practice would vanish. Instead they tend to leave it to the last couple of minutes, which is pointless. I've said often enough that when I go to watch football, I pay to be entertained. Deliberately slowing the game down steals my money whoever does it. By the way, we broke away twice during extra time. Maybe a third break because Fraser hadn't messed about might have resulted in a goal for us. Vin
DEAN Saunders also asked the betting guy what odds for Saints to get into top four....10/1 was the answer then Alan Brazil burst out laughing, "You're not serious Dean?" But he was These guys did learn from Leicester's great adventure last season
