Hull City's deadline day recruit Kamil Grosicki has been tipped to become an instant success in the Premier League by two Polish journalists who know him well, with one claiming his finishing is comparable to that of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

It was a tight finish, but City finally got the signing of Grosicki over the line 94 minutes after the January transfer window had closed, signing the winger from French club Rennes for £8m.

Unfortunately, the Polish international was not registered in time to play Manchester United last night, but he is expected to go straight into the fold on Saturday as the Tigers host Liverpool at the KCOM Stadium.

And, according to those who know him best, City fans should expect something special. Piotr Wierzbicki, a writer for Polish football website futbolfejs.pl, insists some of his finishing is Messi-esque "I'd say now he's the second most important player in our national team offensive-wise, just behind Lewandowski.

"His speed is something very rare. For years his problem was he was quicker than the ball and the wind, losing balls very often," Wierzbicki told the Mail.

"Now it is less and less such a case, he's using his technical skills more often. He's gaining the easiness in movement. The effect is - beautiful goals, some of them Messi-like.

"In Poland we are convinced that he'll do great in England from game one. The Premier League was his dream and it's a league which should fit him perfectly, because of his speed and the ability to give assists.

"Some ask I'm sorry to say, why only Hull? He could easily find a place in clubs from the top."

Grosicki played a pivotal role in the Polish side that reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, playing in all five games before eventually being knocked out by Portugal.

This season despite scoring four times Grosicki fell out of favour at his club side Rennes, making the majority of his appearances from the bench.

However, Hubert Blaszczyk of TVP Sport, believes he was never fully appreciated in France.

"Grosicki is an unpredictable player. He can give a lot on the offensive, " Blaszczyk told the Mail.

"His biggest assets are speed and dribbling. If he has a good day he can win almost all the encounters with the defenders. His weakness is playing in defence. Grosicki is a very important player for the polish national team. He was involved in the most of the goals. He has had played better for the national team than at his clubs. In Rennes he was treated as a joker.

"He walked off the bench and often changed the fate of the matches. But he was not satisfied with his role and after the Euro 2016, he wanted to change club. Grosicki was very close to moving to Burnley, but at the last minute Rennes withdrew from the arrangements, which greatly angered player."

Yep, he is massively reminiscent of Pochetino. The impact he has made here and the way the media are reporting it is massively similar to exactly the impact he had on a short space of time at Saints. If we stay up, we'll finish top half next season and he'll be snapped up.
