Nothing surpises me about it, it's how he's always been. A egocentric, pompous & pathetic excuse of a man.
No chip on my shoulder. No inferiority. My life is great in my N London house mortgage free. Wife and kids all OK. Only point being if you've only seen The Arsenal for a few years then you've been spoilt. Pre wenger we were proper ****.
So let me get this straight - because you saw Arsenal when we were 'proper ****' (before I was even alive), that makes you more of a fan than me? What kind of bullshit logic is that? Even if that's the case, times and expectations have changed. In the current climate, we are underachieving and haven't seen any meaningful progression for years. If you're happy with the status quo that's up to you, but I and many other fans feel like we're entitled to want a change in manager/at the club having witnessed the recurring themes and patterns for the last decade, which has brought us to our current stagnation.
I'm not writing off our season but you're telling me it's not worrying to see us lose two games on the trot when we are supposedly on form? We need to be getting results now and not a month or two down the line when it's too late. We should already have consistency with our results but we seem to be losing against sides that aren't playing very well or missing players.
I see to recall the small matter in the 10 yrs before Wenger, of George Graham winning a couple of league titles, FA/League Cups etc.
No I'm not saying that at all, I said previously in the thread that it was a very worrying sign and that we need to shape up fast. We looked really tired in that 2nd half, and I don't really know why that is ? Okay so we've played away at Basel and Everton, but we had 4 days between the Everton game and this one.
I will never understand this stupid mentality of "Oh we were once crap, so be thankful for what you see now". We're not in the ****ing 70s or 80s anymore, the dynamics have shifted and we have the potential to match the top clubs in Europe. But we're not taking advantage of it and we're not learning from our mistakes. Yet when I and others speak out about it, we get accused of being "entitled" or "spoiled" or "privileged" for merely wanting the best for our club right now? It's just so remarkably baffling.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, even if they supported Arsenal Cavemans FC or when it was Wengers wonder years. At the moment Wenger deserves criticism for that second half shower of **** performance. He gets paid over £8m a year to stop these kind of performances!
That means people buying over priced shifty £500k properties in Walthamstow would qualify to become proper fans in around 25-30 years or how long it takes their miserable life's to pay off their extortionate mortgages?
Really? 1988-1994 2 Leagues, 2 or 3 cups, a European pot, another few finals Rocky, Davis, Thomas, Adams, Robson, Merson, Parlour all home grown, Before that finals in 72, 78, 79, another Euro final Brady, Stapleton, Woodcock, Price et al Wenger has 1 more pot than Portsmouth over the last 12 years - I'd say Graham Breaking the Liverpool monopoly was of greater value
For some bizarre reason Graham doesn't get the respect he deserves. He achieved a hell of a lot with Arsenal and Wenger kick started his success with players that came from Graham's team.
Quite right, but it was still **** football, compared to bergkamp, pires, Henry, Freddie ET Al. Plus remember our midfield of the mid 90's?
Respect to GG for what he did for Arsenal. I was there to see our transformation under George Graham and although it was a bit agricultural at times, he brought some success to Arsenal, especially winning the league in 89 that was a great season. You have to say though, that since Wenger took over, our club has been transformed and the football has been sublime.
