http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor.../newcastle-united-release-two-senior-11266080 Great news that these two have pissed off. Don't know what's worse.... us signing them on lucrative contracts in the first place.... or them sitting on their arses milking the club. Good riddance. **end of beel**
Unconfirmed as yet but it's a step in the right direction. Simply not good enough in Marv's case and too much of a sick-note as far as Obertan was concerned. Obertan has electric pace but is akin to a lame racehorse
Obertan has been so crap, but, that assist against us on the first day of the season was incredible........thought it might have been a one off at the time!
Neither good enough but fair play to Obertan for the spell early last season when, after being told he could leave, he stayed and fought his way into the team. He looked very good for a handful of games and when it came to the end of the season the run he had been an integral part in during November kept us up.
Credit where credit is due. That cross against Southhampton from Obertron was out of character. One Fabrice Pancrate stuck in a scorcher too if you remember.
Lets hope so. Perhaps Penfold has played a blinder and got Rafa to commit to at least one season in the Championship......................... cant see it though.
Yeah I knew about this. I had heard from a good source they were saying their goodbyes on Friday. This is about time. You get those who seem to have time for Marveaux which is bewildering. It is great that we finally have a manager who is willing to sort this club out. Whether we will remain in the division is another question altogether. If as I expect we don't, I think Rafa will have some great job offers unfortunately. Would he entertain Everton? Be a great fit and his family still live there.
Agree to a certain extent for Marveaux but definitely not for Ober. I'll never know if Marveaux would have made it or whether he was to light weight for the PL. due to a combination of injuries and Pardew (yes I do blame him as being partly responsible) Marveaux never got a decent run of games to show what he could do. Anyone care to dig out the longest number of consecutive games he ever played for us? When Marveaux did play he did show flashes of talent with chance creating passes every now and again. He definitely could play but did not have a run of games to show if he could be consistent enough or not.
Think there may have been just a tiny hint of irony in General Lee's post... Marv was reasonably creative on some occasions - had a mini spell of being top of our squad in terms of assists when Pardew was in charge. Unfortunately he was also a light-weight perma-crock and you can't blame Pardew or anyone for that. I do think Pardew was to blame for signing Obertan in the first place.
