Fancy not knowing the best players/formation for his new players after two league games, useless **** should have got everything right after one game. I can see where you're coming from now Chazz, he's had plenty of time to sort it out now, it's a disgrace. #PhelanOut
He's probably been offered a rolling contract. The club will be sold. And If I was a billionaire and paying £100m for the club would Phelan be my first choice. No he wouldn't.
Is this the reason for the delay? Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan unhappy with length and value of contract he has been offered http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/hull-caretaker-boss-mike-phelan-8945613?
I like the way it says 'it is also believed some Championship managers earn more than the original salary proposed by the Allams' as if that's a shock and an indication of how low the offer is. Benitez will earn ****loads more than several Premier League managers.
Is any one surprised if this is true. Its typical of the allams and shows what a mess the club is in under them. It also shows total disrespect to Phelan in my book. No one else wants the job whilst these two remain in ownership. They know that but offer the present temporary manager a pittance, or so it seems. Ive said it before and I will say it again, we are currently a Premiership club and as such whoever is manager should be offered a premiership salary. What total and utter fools these two are.
Apparently at this morning's presser, MP said they were almost there a couple of weeks ago and then the terms changed a bit. Suspect the Allams will not like him airing that view.
They're forevery facking changing the terms. It's their favourite thing to do. Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the terms they are a-changin'
They have history of this don't they? Didn't the first consortium, yanks, walk when everything was ready and agreed and then they threw in the SMC. The yanks said enough is enough and walked. Seems that they havnt a bloody clue.
I don't think a one year contract offer on a modest wage for Phelan is unreasonable at this point in his career bearing in mind the current ownership position of the club. His management experience is limited and he needs to prove himself capable of handling it long term (especially in this division) before he can justify higher wage demands. To be honest this is a big opportunity for someone who has essentially only been a head coach and he probably needs to give himself a bit of a reality check and knuckle down to earn a better deal.
He hasn't 'essentially only been a head coach' at all, he was assistant manager at one of the worlds biggest football clubs for five years.
Assistant manager isn't a manager. There are a lot of additional tasks, responsibilities and pressures related to a managerial job, whereas an assistant always has the manager as a buffer to handle those and ultimately carry the can.
Obviously, doesn't change the fact that he was an assistant manager, not 'only a coach'. If we give him a **** deal and he performs well, then we'll lose him, but that's typical of what we've become accustomed to with the useless pair of ****s we have in charge.
"..that's typical of what we've become accustomed to with the useless pair of ****s we have in charge." Thats all that is ever needed to be said regarding the Allam's reign as owners of HCAFC.
This time next week there could be 2-3 premier league manager posts available to Phelan. Let's see with trepidationwhat Sunday's Telegraph brings.
