Diame Huddlestone Davies Strong case also for Odubajo and Livermore. Wasn't too encouraged by Jakupovic's punched saves from two first half free kicks but, without being too pushed, he had an excellent all round game again - good handling even when battered near the end.
What's wow about it? They couldn't get near him and his passes were world class. Really was a top top performance.
Fat controller for me,maybe Daws at the back as well. Great team performance and our experience on the day was the clincher Imo.
1 I'm going to give it to Diame for the goal. Overall he seemed slow, but had a burst of speed & created space when it mattered. Looked quality above. 2 Odubajo, he's been excellent in the play off games, one of our best attacking players by a mile. 3 Huddlestone, I'm shocked at putting him in. He was outstanding, calm, looked very comfortable. When they read out the team news, I was giving it the "oh no," when Hudds & Mo were in the team, but they really shut me up. Overall a great team performance. Abel H was brilliant, Jake, Jak, Davies, any other day & he would be in my top 3, Dawson, also never a penalty at the end, Elmo did well despite constantly whinging, Snodgrass was quiet but played the ball through for Mo, Robbo did equally well down the left, should have finished it earlier. Clucas ran his arse off when he came on, thought Mo would have passed to him instead of Abel. Steve Bruce manager!
Huddlestone Livermore Diame Loads of them were really good though. I'm not giving it to a defender because for once we didn't rely on them. Our midfield dominated and that combined with a bit of Mo magic won us the game.
He can seem slow though he got around. His ball control is still a puzzle at times, though he did hold people off the ball more than often this season, he was stronger.
Huddlestone lost the ball a couple of times, but it made no difference our whole squad was a class above. Dave Davies Dawson
Brucie deserves a lot of credit for yesterday - it all depended on which Steve Bruce turned up - the one that sits deep, holds position, wont allow the wingers to pass the half way line or the one that turned up yesterday, and gets the players to chase people down and push forward Diame - great performance - why don't you play like that every week, running around looking interested Davies - absolute rock at the back - pity Brucie dropped him for half of last season for not a lot Jak - another great performance - never looked like being beaten
Diame - great hold up play. Kept rattling their defense. Wonder goal. Huddlestone - Calmed things down when needed. Dictated play completely. Lots of through ball attempts and helped keep Weds on the back foot. Davies - Great cover time and time again. Calm head. Good game
Surprised how many picking Jak when he had so little to do. Wouldn't pick McGregor by the same logic...
The three D's for me... Diame... Not just the goal, those passes to Abel And Dave...world class. But also the Block/clearance that would almost definitely Have been the equaliser... Brilliant.. Dave.... Just oozes prem class that lad...fantastic. Davies... As someone else put..bloody Hadrian's wall.. Each and every other member of the team...... Played their part..... Simply a wonderful day !!!!
