Having enjoyed taking the mickey out of the Forest fans when they played Mull of Kintyre at the start of the second half, I thought I'd ask them why they play it: "We always play it before games. It is in honour of the late Granville McCartney (great grandfather of Paul) who played for Forest prior to WW1. He was a prolific goalscorer and instrumental in establishing Forest as a football league club. Upon his death Sir Paul dedicated the song to Forest in honour of his great grandad and recently unveiled a statue at the club." I've said that they should go back to him and ask him to switch it something that's not so embarrassing, I suggested that Yesterday was good.
These Forest fans haven't got much of sense of humour, they didn't like my Yesterday joke and one's gone into a rant about their history and us not noticing as we've been non league for 400 years blah, blah, blah...
I thought yesterday (see what I did there) they were a pretty humourless bunch with their chants. They are obviously feeling the pressure of being up near the top.
I bunged it up on 606(there's hardly anyone on the Forest board on here), I've now suggested that 'From me to you' would have been more appropriate.
That story was completely made up, it turns out they just sing Mull of Kintyre because they like terrible music. I also found out that 606 poster 'After the Earthquake' has far too much time on his hands: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A82244216
