So how come Stoke have a better looking home shirt than us.? Traditionally, what happens is that both Stoke and Sunderland bring kit out and somehow manage to make them look worse than ours, which in some years has been a tall order, But this year Stoke have managed to outdo us. please log in to view this image OK, I loathe their bet365 logo, but we've got saddled with crappy Addidas for one final season [I hope] and a new shirt that looks more like a Stoke shirt than theirs. That green stripe Away thing is the direct opposite to our planned arrangement, isn't it.? Unbelievable that we might play in Europe with people mistaking us for Stoke CIty. Traditionally, the thing that defines a Saints R/W striped shirt is the red round the neck. Stoke generally have white round the neck and that looks crap. But we've swapped..!
Excuse me, but I've only just started. Do you have the monopoly on when I can and cannot comment or something..?. Besides, this is a new twist for me.
Do you have the monopoly on why I say I think something has become boring? PS. The Stoke away kit isn't the reverse of ours.
Lost me on both points. Not sure why the face palm on the first point and I wrote 'away' about the kit. ??????
I don't subscribe to the something's got boring just because I've had enough of it theory. So I made light about your comment.
Ok then. I missed the humour I just think that no matter what the club do, a lot of people would moan about the kit. That's what I meant by its boring now.
I think the kits wil become significantly better once we lose Addidas. I've nothing against the company but they will insist on trying to get their 3 white lines symbol everywhere, which often degrades a design that doesn't suit it. Plus, almost every designed kit of theirs looks staid and slightly boring, at best.
Well plastering their logo on everything isnt exactly unique to Adidas and I actually find it rather benign compared to other companies like Diadora and New Balance. However i do agree that their kits don't usually fill me with excitement. It almost always feel like someone just messing with color fill tool and a couple of basic patterns.
Prefer our shirt to Stoke's. The stripes are too small, plus they'll have white shorts and blue numbers. Also wtf is up with those sleeves? And New Balance... Gross.
I agree the Stoke home shirt looks nice there, but when they wore it on Sunday I thought it looked awful on. The away kit is nice though, the sash is making appearances with many teams this year! EDIT: When will we see more pictures of our shirt? The more I watch the video release the more it grows on me.
When Addidas first started getting their 3 white lines into strips back in the 1970-80's it looked quite cool, but the ID was so strong that, for me, it just dates them. So it's a personal thing with me, of course, but other companies don't seem to have such a distinctive ID symbol, which frees up the kits they design. I think I shall be very glad when Addidas go and screw up the look of another club and leave us alone. Only a year to wait.
I'd say there are a few exceptions - Chelsea away the year they won the CL (I think), as well as Lyon's. Problem is too many mid-table stodgemasters wear/did wear Adidas (Stoke, Sunderland). Nike is clearly the best, as they are limited to a few top teams in the Prem. Infact, is it just Man U they make kits for in the Prem now?
