Seen this on Vital Gas.... New rules for next season. Actually starts from 1st June so you will see these rules in place for Euro 16.

    New rule:
Where the referee deems it to have been an accidental challenge as opposed to a professional foul (in other words cynical hack job). If the referee deems it to have been accidental collision or/and a true attempt at the ball, the offending player will now only be cautioned with a yellow card and the award of a penalty if applicable.
Players will however continue to receive a red card for holding, pulling, pushing, not playing the ball or 'having the possibility' of playing the ball and for the obviously serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball events.

    New rule:
The referee now also has the power to send players off prior to kick off for their off pitch behaviour, and those powers now kick in from the pre match pitch inspection - the obvious reference to Arsenal's Patrick Vieira and Manchester United's Roy Keane tunnel chat a number of years ago. In that instance, the referee could now dismiss both or either player but the team wouldn't start with ten men, the dismissed player would be replaced by somebody on the substitutes bench so as to not cheat the fans from starting with eleven v eleven.

    New rule:
Other changes also mean the ball can move in any direction from a kick off now, as opposed to having to move forward initially.

    New rule:
Players who are injured by a challenge that is punishable by a yellow or red card can now receive quick treatment on the pitch - rather than having to leave the pitch for treatment, and their team suffering a man's disadvantage for a period of time.
It has been an 18 month review into the game in an effort to make things fairer, and the triple punishment for genuine tackles that can be read 50/50 and a side gaining an advantage by seeing a fouled member of the opposition leave the pitch until the referee waved them back on, certainly ticks the 'fairer' element and they had billed the review as being a 'once in a generation' opportunity to address issues like this.

    New rule:
Penalty kicks. The anointed player from 12 yards will no longer be allowed to 'feint' or dummy kick spot kicks to entice a goalkeeper into going the wrong way. Such an action is now an automatic yellow card. Fairly, goalkeepers who move before the penalty is taken will now see a yellow card as well.

    New rule:
Official drink breaks will now be the normal in appropriate weather at international level as well.

    Trial:
A two year trial of additional video technology to assist referees will take place and the Italian Football Federation has been selected for this trial, which will start next season. This video technology will be for four specific events:
    1) To determine if a goal is scored (which already happens)
    2) For red card decisions
    3) Penalty award decisions
    4) In cases of mistaken identity.
Year one (2016/17 season) of this trial will be done in private.
Year two (2017/18 season) of this trial will move to a live pilot phase for the public to see.

Find some of those new rules rather worrying they seem to imply that common sense can be applied

If the ball doesn't need to go forward at kick off you might not need two players standing over the ball.

I think we'll see a lot of keepers booked when it looked like a perfectly good penalty save.

Happy about this.....always seemed like unsporting behaviour to me.

Every game. It started from June 1st so its been happening in the Euro's too.

For example, here is the new kick off rule taking place in the Euro's where you can kick the ball in any direction instead of having to kick the ball forward. So now you dont have to have 2 players at kick off if you dont want to....

That rule about the penalty run up is not being enforced, seeing that a number of the penalties taken at the Euros have included a stutter, or in Zaza's case, a morris dance.

The penalty takers so far in the Euro's havent been like what was previously happening last season. Last season, players were actually stopping still during their run up to take the penalty. The penalty takers in the Euro's have not stopped moving during their run ups. They are still trying to trick the keeper like a stutter but they are not actually stopping still. Some are cutting it very fine though <ok>

So we won't see anyone else doing a riverdance before missing a penalty? Shame!
