Just read on twitter that these two may be signing on loan for the season, only a rumour but i just thought i would liven up monday morning for you all! Would be great IF it did, but i cant see the Powell one myself, Wickham may be a bit more realistic!
Both names were posted last week, but it seems Wickham has a clause that gives Ipswich first refusal on any Championship loan.
I have a sneaky feeling that Ferggie may want to have a look at him before he sends him out on loan! O really?! Didnt know that OLM, i am sure my ipswich mate would love that!
But then Wickham could prob have the final say on where he wanted to go? Seen as Bruce brought him to S'land this could have an effect on where he chose to go.
Wiki informs me he was born in Hereford, so unless the SAS football team are after him on loan I think we're fine.
Apparently red nose won't let Powell out on loan... yet. Heard he plans on giving him a chance in the United first team before he goes anywhere else.
Probably a blessing in disguise, I think we have enough young players in our squad, we need to mix it up with some experienced players now, and by experienced I don't mean in the twilight of their careers. Boyd P'boro Heskey Another CF winger Centre Half GK x 2 Good to go. The rumoured 4 to 5 signings would still leave us woefully short, if you assume 2 of those slots would have to be keepers.
Nick Powell is far more realistic but City will have to wait until late August OR when the loan window opens in sept. SAF has said he wants to see Powell in pre-season tour and games and he may well do what Frazier Campbell did in August 2009. Start in the first team squad. But i dont see Powell having much chance as the season goes along. Powell needs a seasons loan in the Championship IMO, so why not Hull City.? If anyone can get Powell then Bruce can. As for Wickham,, Ipswich have to be offered him first but then who says that Wickham has to say yes to Ipswich & Jewell. TWT as always. Agree for the start of the season on Powell but once the August transfer windows shuts then i can it at least until Jan. Wickham IMO is the harder one to judge and call. imo. Indeed he does and thats what i posted last week. Ipswich have to be offered him first but he does not have to say yes to it. After that who knows. Yes i agree, Bruce for sure will know what the full S.P. is for that. Came up through the Ipswich youth set up it seams. I would want Nick Powell over Conar Wickham anyday of the week even if we have to wait a month or so. When Bruce gets his targets on board it wont leave us woefully weak at all but we shall still need 2 or 3 more imo. 5 full transfers and 3 loans would be the correct mix in my view. One good thing is that City can add loans as the season progresses of course and you never know how many free agents will still be un-signed and cheap come Sept 1st.
Hmm, some contacts within Manchester have told me that the Nick Powell situation is very unlikely. Ferguson is very fond of the young lad, and wants to see what he's like in the first team. Powell can play as a midfielder or striker and Man Utd are quite low on midfielders (hence the return of Paul Scholes). Kagawa has signed but it's unknown what impact he'll have on the EPL. Wickham is some media slurge which have hopped on the 'Bruce returning for former players' bandwagon. Bruce may at some point have mentioned it, but there is some contract clauses when he went to Sunderland from Ipswich that allows Ipswich first refusal. However, should he reject the Tractor Boys and we did go for him, there's a chance that regular first team football and Premier League aspirations will win him over for The Tigers.
First time I've seen this thread, I must have been busy in 2012, I have to say though that it was good to read some fresh (to me) stuff from Tickles. RIP Tickles
