In an interview with Les Reed last year he mentioned how the squad is regularly assessed and audited. It's business talk, but it's fair that this kind of due diligence has contributed towards our success.
In recent weeks a number of players have signed contract extensions or have publicly been offered new deals.
As a Not606 external auditor what would you recommend the club do this summer and beyond?

So who gets a new contract, who gets booted, who gets sold, who gets told they're staying?

I'd give Cody Cropper a new deal all the others in red could probably leave.

I would look to sell Osvaldo, Gaston and Mayuka

I would try and get Clyne, Alderweireld to sign deals.

Would probably sign Elia at 4m

Havent seen enough of Djuricic as of yet but 9m looks steep.

I think Cropper will get an extension along with Flannigan and Britt.

I don't really know enough about the u21s or u18s to comment, although from the little I know I wouldn't be surprised to see Turnbull and/or Stephens leave and if Cropper is worse than Gazza I can't see much point keeping him. As for the first team:

Out of contract players - I'd try and get Boruc to stay but that won't happen. He and Hooiveld will go.
New contracts - Try and get Clyne and Alderweireld to sign 3-4 year contracts. Ideally I'd want a new contract for Wanyama as well.
Other loan players - Still a little too early to judge Djuricic but Elia needs to show something more for me, especially if Vilhena is signing.
Try and sell - Osvaldo, Mayuka, Ramirez
Replacements - Vilhena is on his way here apparently. New first choice striker needed, new goalkeeper needed (Cech or maybe Stekelenburg on loan might work), replacements needed for any players who leave (apart from the three I'd be trying to sell).

Yeah I know they're on loan and doing quite well. Wasn't Stephens at Swindon last year as well? I don't think they're poor players or anything but I don't really see where their route into our squad is. If we'd let Yoshida's contract expire then maybe one or the other could be 4th choice but as it is we have a good amount of CB cover already and I'd be surprised if either jumped into the first team. I could see Swindon trying to sign one or both permanently.

I think Stephens has a chance of making it with us as a defensive midfield.

Stephens has also been playing as a defensive midfielder, think that might be where his future lies.

Fair enough. So Reed could take Schneiderlin's place and Stephens would take Reed's? Yeah, that might work.

    Midfielders:
    Willard
    Demkiv
    Little
    Mason
    Slattery
    Sims
    Stephens

    Forwards:
    Barnes

Oh FFS, I've gone and cleaned my boots. I saw the thread title and "not606 squad" and dashed outside to clean my boots ready for selection.

I think the contract extensions of both Turnbull & Yoshida were two of the more surprising moves by the club this season. Are these contracts because they're seen as long term important members of the squad or are we securing our assets?

Chelsea are cynically holding young talent and it's becoming a profitable exercise for them now, not just financially (De Bruyne, Lukaku, Bertrand), but for the first team (Courtois)
With the FAs proposed new rules of 12 home grown players forming the senior squad, that's only going to re-enforce this as a sound footballing business model.

Thanks for the insight on the youth players Beefy, much appreciated for someone who doesn't get to see them.

Here is what I think will happen with the keepers

    Boruc gone
Cropper will be allowed to leave
Gazzaniga will be sent on loan (New contract if he can perform)
Isted & Britt will fight for u21 keeper
We will bring in a season long loan whilst Forster recovers. Davis will remain on the bench

Got a bad feeling Wanyama will go. 2 years left and if he doesn't sign a new contract we might have to cash in.

Or play him for at least another year...we won't want to keep rebuilding a team.

Clyne will be the litmus test on that.

If we sell for less than £20m then I would say being on the final year of his contract has dramatically affected his value.

I think only Yoshida has been signed in the premier league era and signed an extension. This is a trend we're going to need to improve
