Alan Hardy has reluctantly admitted defeat in his bid to save Notts County Ladies Football Club after facing a near-£1million bill to keep the club afloat this season...

With outgoings of £500k a season and incoming of £28k a season, it's no wonder they're in bother, unless people start actually turning up to women's games, a lot of other clubs are likely to follow suit.

What are the outgoings? I know there are some full time pros in the ladies game now but not sure how widespread it is. Are clubs paying more in wages than they can afford like in the men's game?

It didn't help that the FA scheduled a recent match at the same time as Notts County were playing. So any fans of the men's team wanting to watch the ladies' match couldn't. Alan Hardy appealed to request a reschedule and was rejected.

I know it sounds bollocks but Sky have a lot to answer for. Bigging up the women's game when there is next to no interest.

Most of the £500k costs are for wages.

Maybe Spencer Tunick should be given a call for advice to boost attendance viewing :emoticon-0165-muscl:emoticon-0172-mooni figures.

Sorry if you have just got back from church, or are getting stuck into your roast. Or both. At the same time.

    Second thoughts.

Old Spencer charges £3m per shoot (fnar fnar). Even allowing for a packed Meadow Lane (do Notts County Ladies play there) that still wouldn't cover costs.

    That wouldn't work.
