Kids bikes you either went the Budgie > Chopper route or Strika/Boxer > Grifter route.

    I went rogue.

    Budgie straight to Grifter.

    No ****.

And let's no forget the Tomahawk, which was in between the Budgie and Chopper.

You are an exception to the rule Carmine.

I was Boxer > Grifter. Then my head was turned by BMX. Had 4 of the bastard things and many injuries at Costello BMX track.

I went from Grifter to BSA racer.

I was an ungrateful little **** and wasn't happy with it because it only had three gears.

My mum and dad must have saved up for ages for it as well.

Makes me feel ashamed to be honest.

I agree with Ernie and Happy. You are all a set of posh bastards having new bikes when you were kids. Not that I'm envious though.:headbang:

I turned my nose up at a Capri 70cc scooter when I was 16 or 17, which is I suppose understandable in a way, for that I therefore got nowt until I received considerable assistance buying my first car 4 years later. You live and learn, but I did regret turning that scooter down.

Sticking cowhorns on your racer was definitely the order of the day in the late 70's...

Grew out of that and moved on to sticking Renthal bars on stripped down Honda C50's (hours of endless fun on the old embankments in Anlaby)...

Though ours didn't actually look anywhere near as good as these.

    I had a Grifter - weighed a ton.

Remember that weird foam covering on the handlebar cross-brace coming in useful for croggies.

Learn as you go along. The best way. That way once you've got it road worthy you'll be a dab hand on the tools.

My mid life crisis projects are at a stand still - I'm putting them forward for late life crisis projects.
