Never In the 45 years following City have I ever had a better away match couple of days than the Lokeren game, even better than the FA Cup final, although before we lost that was top.
I didn't not know why people keep posting about the pre match atmosphere, the point made was it was very quiet in the ground. And it was. And if people did 'burn out' the night before or during the day then more fool them. As stated, where do you think the players would've preferred it?
I've made a note that for our next European campaign it will be lights out at nine o clock and soft drinks only.
No one specified in those precise terms, but in keeping with the implication that people had peaked too early I felt it only prudent and best practice to do so.
If people can't go out 2 nights on the trot, drink during the day and then support their team on the night then they're ****ing lightweights. FACT.
Don't forget the one hour time difference, the confusing local languages and customs, driving on the wrong side of the road etc Debilitating to say the least.
To anyone who was in that square pre match with in Lokeren will probably agree that it was the best away game bar none to have been a City fan, for me that year getting to the FA Cup and playing a proper away game in Europe was everything I ever dreamed of. I was in the best stand at the game and to be fair even though we could hear City fans singing, the locals never shut up, so drowned our fans out, that and the team was ****e on the night. All in all a bit mean to have a go at City's support all things Stella intake considered
Fantastic statement here from the Roma Ultras as, despite pleas from players and management, they continue their self imposed boycott of matches due to the attempted sanitisation of atmosphere in the Stadio Olimpico: http://www.football-italia.net/99643/roma-ultras-boycott-lyon
