Is it possible to do a survey thread where we can vote 1-10 for each player's performance this season?

I wouldnt know where to start but thought I could suggest it. Be interesting to see how they average out across all the board.

Okay then, for regular first teamers...

    Forster - 8

    Clyne - 8.5
    Bertrand - 9
    Fonte - 9
    Alderwiereld - 9
    Yoshida - 8.5

    Schneiderlin - 9
    Wanyama - 8.5

    Davis - 8
    Ward-Prowse - 7.5
    Tadic - 7.5

    Long - 8
    Mane - 9
    Pelle - 8

I've scored them relative to what I believe the expectations of them were at the beginning of the season. For example, Tadic was bought in to be our most creative force, and while he had a few excellent games, there were too many where he was mediocre. On the other hand, I believe Long was only ever expected to be a 'super-sub'/plan B type player, and for me he was excellent in this role.

6 for Davis seems a little harsh when from about August to November, he seemed to be key to everything we did. I realize he has faded lately, but that's a tough score.

Not one of our players deserves less than a 7.0. We now know that Tadic has been carrying a 'groan' injury, so hopefully will be back to an 8.0-8.5 next season.

Forster gets 13 clean sheets and a 7. Bertrand plays all but the three games he was suspended for and was excellent, but doesn't make the top 3?

I can't agree with all of that.

Not much love for JWP on the ratings so far.
I think a few ratings are comparing players to other players and not comparing players to where they've come from.
e.g. Just because you've given 8s & 9s to Morgan & Big Vic, doesn't mean JWP doesn't also deserve a high score even if his contribution to the team is not yet as important.

For me he has improved again as a player. Has added non set piece assists to his game and of course bagged his first goal and don't forget he had a long injury lay off to contend with too.

At least everyone has given props to our most improved player in Yoshi.
So no mini rant needed here :emoticon-0103-cool:

How can you give Davis a 5? I realise that this isn't an objective process but there was only one goal that I can recall any real debate on i.e., "would Forster have saved that?". Other than that he's been excellent.

I know it's stupid and cliched rude, but I can't help but giggle whenever Ronald says groan for groin. When Dusan was first injured there, or maybe it was Morgan, Ronald said at a Press conference groan er, groin [he corrected himself]. Now he just says groan and we all accept it. After young David Salas and Porcupine, it would be sad if we'd had an English bloke for a manager who spoke the perfect lingo. :)

Personally felt Forster had a good season but not amazing and certainly didn't play to the same level as a lot of players. The number of clean sheets was a large portion down to the back 5 as a unit (+ Wanyama and Schneiderlin) and for large parts of the season he was facing very few shots. I think the fact that he's had a big injury makes him a bit of a martyr and he looks great compared to Davis and Gazzaniga, but he has a lot of room for improvement (which I think he will fulfil next season!)

I don't think the number of games you play makes much relation to whether you've had the best season or not? Clyne, Fonte, Alderweireld and Schneiderlin would have played every single game if they were fit.

I thought he was fairly average, I think perhaps it's a bit harsh to judge him compared to full time prem keepers, but remember he got dropped after a few games and made a few blunders, and his pretty shocking attempts at penalty saves highlighted why he isn't up to more than few games a season.

Forster - we'll just have to disagree. If you were around earlier in the season, you'd see I have been pro- Forster all season. I can't understand the criticism he's got this year. Not a martyr thing with me, he's been excellent.

Davis - are you on about this season? How many penalties has he had to face? Did he get dropped, or did Ron day he needed Gazza to play a couple of games so he could make a judgement on him?

I don't think Davis got dropped for any other reason than Ron wanted to see Gazzaniga. He said he needed to see him in a couple of games...obviously to enable a decision to be made for next season...do we need 1 or 2 more keepers.
