If the season was to kick off tomorow how does everybody think we'd do?
We look strong in central mid but pish poor everywhere else. I think this squad would still finish mid table though.

We might have a decent chance if Lens, Khazri, Kone, and Djilobodji played for us next season. Can't see that happening though

I just noticed Borini is missing on the OPs original list. That makes it 7 wanting away!

Bloody hell. You don't have many players I'd consider having at Newcastle. Be it this season or indeed for our squad last season!

Apart from the players we need.
Loose them others and we will not be able to buy that many

Wanting away and leaving are 2 different things though mate.

Bains didn't take any **** from Kone last year and stood his ground.

True, but keeping players that don't want to be at a club rarely turns into a positive.

I give you Kone's below par performances all season and the rumours that he was one of them that was refusing to play or feigning injury to avoid playing.

I think we all agree that we want and need players that are prepared to give their all on the pitch and in representing our club off the pitch. Anyone not willing to do the basics at their parent club needs to be got rid of for the sake of team harmony.

And that's true as well mate.

But they're going to have to recognise that we can't leave ourselves with an empty changing room.

We can promise them moves in January if necessary as long as we can keep the numbers up going into the start of the season.

Under no circumstances can we get off to a bad start.

I'm with you 100% that we need to get off to a good start mate.

I also think your idea about promised January moves could work, as long as the players concerned are fully committed.

It will be interesting to see who is in the starting 11 on the 5th August and which players make up the first team squad when the transfer window slams shut!

Have to admit I'm quite excited about it all. Potential new owners, new manager & extra backroom staff, plus a complete overhaul of the first team squad can only be a positive step forward after the last few seasons of utter dross!

Add Borini in and, if they were all 100% committed and stayed relatively injury-free I'd fancy us for top 2, honestly. And I'm generally quite negative.

    ---------------- Mannone ----------------
    Jones ---- Kone --- Bod ----- Oviedo
    -------------Catts---N'Dong--------------
    Watmore--------Lens------------Khazri
    ---------------------Borini-------------------

is not a bad first team at all, imo - if they all put a shift in. Bod is dodgy, but I think he'll be more than decent enough at championship level, just needs to get some confidence back. Other than that, the only position which is a bit of a worry is up top - Borini isn't and never will be a number 9 imo. But I expect he'd put a few away in the Championship. Suspect the supporting three would also chip in a decent amount.

Having said that, half the ****ers couldn't give a **** and will be off before the summer's out, so it's all irrelevant really.

That 11 would absolutely piss that league. 90+ points.

It won't however look anything like our team next season

I thuink the first 11 (with the addition of Borini of course) would get promoted if they played every game.

As Cattermole, Jones etc. are on that list that won't happen so mid table IMO

That said, Kone, Khazri, Borini will all probably leave. Lens won't play int he championship!! He only wanted to play occasionally in the PL!
