took us as far as he could. Just read the knicker wetting on the match thread. 38% possession. 2 shots on target. GTF Brings a ****ing CB on for a center forward. Pathetic. We want and demand to do a Leicester. Go out and attack teams thats the way to go in the PL. not this sideways back sideways hoof up to no one ****e. Hold on hoping to nick a point. No go out there and attack them that's how Leicester did it. Bournemouth too. Phelan Out.
I do agree Chazz. For the most part it was a fairly valiant defensive display, albeit with a few glaring errors that Man U failed to capitalise on. But nothing looks much different from the Bruce era. We look to get the ball forward a bit quicker and more centrally which is probably a big plus, but otherwise it's still defensive, dour, backs to the wall and it's always a game of chance of whether the opposition can make constant heavy pressure pay. Bringing off our only attacking outlet for another centre half was a tragic decision. Was he not around for the amount of times Bruce did it and we went on to concede? Ridiculous. Harry should have had that ball covered too, just stood there, hesitated a bit and watched it roll past him. Despite the results I've not seen enough on the pitch to suggest Phelans the man to take us forward. We need someone a little more daring IMO. The teams who have been unexpectedly successful haven't done it by sitting back and defending. The teams who have got themselves relegated have. Go figure.
you're having a laugh, yeah - the last person we want anywhere near this club is Bruce - just look how good Davies is playing now - Brucie dropped him so he could justify playing his son and justify giving him a multi year contract - Phelan definitely in - we were hanging on yesterday, we needed to bolster the defence - yes it was disappointing but in the bigger scheme of things, you don't expect to get points off Man Utd and losing by the single goal doesn't hurt the goal difference and doesn't damage team morale
We have definitely moved on from SB, he did a great job whilst he was here, but I think we are playing better under Phelan. Yesterday was always going to be a back to the wall job, and they nearly pulled it off.
Man Utd will put more than 1 past vastly superior teams than us. It was a valiant defensive display. Well played lads. Gutted to lose in injury but heads up and onwards.
I thought Phelan sounded more pissed off about the managerial situation in his post match interview, rather less diplomatic than previous interviews.
I think that was as much to do with the result and losing to a late goal, as much as to do with lack of signings. It looks like some incomings before Wednesdays deadline, and his outlook will change. If not it will be interesting to see if he does a 'Brucey' and walks on Thursday claiming lack of support?
I was being a bit impish there but not totally. Don't see the rumour about rob price as dof being likely in the long term. Davies seems to come into his own when he's the main man in a back 4. Form dipped when daws came in and was justifiably dropped imho at that particular time. Seemed unsettled due to lack of improved contract and losing captaincy after 2013/14 season. Obviously glad it was sorted last season though.
We lost to a late goal because Elmo tried to tackle Rooney like a sick Giraffe. He should just have got in front of him, even a free kick to them near the byline outside the box is better than letting get the last minute cross in.
Bournemouth had 47% possession at home against Man U. 9% more than we did. More shots than us. More shots on target. More corners than us. And scored a goal against Man U. Thats having a go.... Not sitting back and defending for 90 minutes. Then hoofing high ball up to Hernandez to get brushed aside like a fly by Bailly. Phelan Out.
