Good deal all round, we'll get a fair fee (in this day and age) and he go's to a good team that he'll play every week.

Hopefully we'll put a chunk to paying off some of the debt and keep a bit back to get a replacement in.

Good deal if true. Best of luck to the kid. Think this is a step towards being a top 4/international keeper for him.

That's a **** load of money to reinvest. About fair in this market. Wonder how much goes back into the squad? Vito is more than good enough as number 1 for this year.

Disagree, I think it's criminal we lose Pickford so soon all because one man has ran us into the ground. This is us paying for Short's mistakes. I think it's a **** deal for the club and it's fans. Good deal for Short, he gets to pay some of that debt off which is owed to himself.

Looks like Iam eating my own **** tonight <laugh> didn't think he go to Everton.

Good price tho and good luck to the kid. Very much doubt he wants to go but that's life.

Will we see any of the money. No chance I say to that.

That's the position we are in now unfortunately, not much we can do about the past now and he's not a championship player at all. I'd much rather a football club in the lower leagues than no football club at all because we've gone bust.

Plus, you have to remember we've had him playing for 1/2 a season and he's going to be I think the 3rd most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football...

We must get a a sell on clause installed.

Imagine he goes for even bigger money in 3/4/5 years?

Good luck to him, I'm chuffed for him in all honesty.

It is but I'd like to know the terms of the deal - it's a fee totalling £30m with a number of clauses over the course of a long contract. So I'd pose the question how much are we getting up front?

We got £8m for Connor Wickham FFS - Pickford is much better than Wickham (He's probably a better striker never mind keeper!) so are we getting 15m up front and the rest in add ons? or £7m up front (their initial offer iirc)?

These deals annoy me and we always seem to be ****e at agreeing them. £30m is very good money for someone his age but it's only really a good deal if that money is reinvested in the squad - which it likely won't be

I have noticed we have really toughened up since Martin Bain has come to the club. I liked the way we handled Everton over the Kone saga last year. 30m for Pickford can't be turned down, imo. I didn't think we'd get that much.

Doesn't mean we should accept it does it. People saying it's a great price. There's only one person it's a great price for. Nearly all of our debt is to our own owner, had it all been to a 3rd party I'd say fair do. But all this sale does is help Short get out less of a hit on his personal finance. Might raise our budget but it's only freeing what's already being withheld. It makes a mockery of our club imo. You accept it's just the way it is, that's your bag fella, no problem with that. I'll voice my concerns though.

Agreed. We seem a little hard nosed now.

I said we should sell at 35 but in all honesty expected to get 20-22. Think it's a pretty incredible deal that could change the short term future of the club... For the better.

Judging by our previous dealings I thought we would have been lucky to get £15 million for him

Yeh 30 million but how much initially will we get.
This is disgraceful we are falling so far back it's unbelievable.
The sooner short sells the better. we then may get a manager and work with whats left.
Short won't invest anything and we will struggle.

Which is 100% a no brainer... Regardless of relegation. We're not a team that can have £30m assets.

    Not according to this:

    http://www.skysports.com/football/n...agree-30m-jordan-pickford-fee-with-sunderland

Everton have agreed a fee totalling £30m with Sunderland for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Toffees had an opening bid knocked back last week, but have come back in with another which relegated Sunderland have accepted.

Sky sources understand the £30m will include a number of add-ons over the course of a long-term contract.

Pickford is currently on international duty in Poland with England U21s and will undergo a medical upon his return.

Edit: Just saw your post above fella sorry! Crazy isn't it - we'll get shafted on this one I have no doubt
